Sometimes I do it, sometimes DH and sometimes we hire somebody. Can't say I have any great love for yard work, so I'd be just as happy to hire somebody every single time if I could!

Usually my husband, but I've done it a few times when I'm bored.
His job is mowing, mine is pruning. Thankfully, pruning needs to be done a lot less! (But when it needs to be done, it's a huge job).

While I do a lot of work in the flower beds and with the shrubs, the lawn crew mows. Someone we know was mowing and by mistake, got his toes caught in the blades. My dh would not allow anyone in our family to mow because of that.

It's odd that you mention this...One of my earliest memories is from when I was two or three years old. My father was in the military, and we lived on the base right behind the base hospital. One day my dad was outside pushing me in a swing and our next door neighbor was mowing the grass. The next second my father was screaming for my mother to come outside and get me, and then he took off running, carrying our neighbor, across the field to the hospital. The guy had hit a stick or something with the lawnmower that had been hidden by the grass, and it was propelled by the mower into him just like an arrow. All that blood everywhere made a big impression on me. I can still see it in my mind's eye - my father running like lightning carrying this guy covered all over in blood. (BTW, my father NEVER let my mother, my sister, or me mow the grass, so I guess it made a big impression on him as well!)

Me it's cheaper this way, and though doesn't look proffesional, atleast it's a way to excercise

Usually DH. Sometimes me. Dh likes doing it, he is a perfectionist and likes the lawn and yard to look perfect.

We're slowly but surely pulling up the meadow in our backyard and making a garden. We haven't cut the grass yet- but we pull out the ones that are too long.

Funny you mantion a goat. I was actually thinking about getting one to clear some awful ground cover that has totally taken over the yard. I just want a small pigmy goat and only a female. They don't stink!
