I found a thread where someone recommended the Spirooliâ„¢ Spiral Slicer, but on Amazon there are much higher rated ones for the same price.
What do some spiralizers do,that others dont?
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr.....-rank
Does anyone have any of the top rated ones? Are you happy with it?

I want to know too! Some of them seem to be made of such cheap plastic that I worry about them cracking the first time I try to use a carrot.

I have the Paderno and I like it a lot. Yes it feels cheap, but it works surprisingly well.

I have a julienne peeler that I LOVE and use often. but I'm always tempted to get a spiralizer as well.
I'm trying to think of the ways I'd use it.
(This Pesach I'm planning on using the julienne peeler to make 'noodles' for the soup. Its faster then the egg noodles I make)

Do you add them when making the soup, or add them to the soup when warming it up or add them to the individual portions, raw??

Just remember that on Shabbos you can't add them raw.

I add them to boiling soup raw and leave them for just 3 minutes before serving. But for Shabbos I saute them in a tiny amount of olive oil for 2 minutes ahead of time.

How many zuchinis or carrots or beets do you have to spiralize for toppings for 10 salads?
Do your hands get tired?
Has anyone asked a Shaila if theyre usable on Shabbos?

I use mine on Yomtov, not shabbos. Same as my hand grater.
How much do you need need for topping? However much you want to put on top of the salad.
I make zoodles and cheese on pesach. It's a hit.
I also cracked a piece of the handle, but it can stll be used. I can do many veggies before my hands get tired.

As visual garnishes? It doesn't take a lot of vegetables.
Can't be used on shabbos but ok on YT.

If you're not sure how much you'll use it or will mostly use it during the week/cooking for a small family, or if you don't have much space for gadgets, I recommend getting a julienne peeler and seeing how you like making noodles from veggies. I have the zyliss one and I love it. Easy to use and to clean. I mostly use it for zucchini noodles for myself, and it's perfect for that.
