Yeah, I know its not chometz, but I still like to do it at least once a year.
So how do you do it?? My kids' quilts fit in my washing machine, so thats not a problem. But mine are heavier and they dont fit. So I could either go to the laundromat (they have extra large machines) -major shlep . Or send to dry clean -major expense. Or hand-wash in the bathtub -major job.
Any other ideas?? What do you do?

After all those "major" issues, I'd say just skip it!!!

I'd go with the laundromat option. You gotta wash those quilts sometime. It's an annoying job, but it feels so fresh once you get it done and you're sleeping on smooth, clean, fresh bedding. I just did ours (I do it more often cuz I dont use a quilt cover) and so glad I did!!

I just wash the covers. Since the quilts themselves are always covered I figure that's enough...
although it's funny.. I'm washing all the baby blankets tonight. Some are crocheted. I hope they survive the delicate cycle!

if your quilts are feather or down, do it at the laundromat, that's the way they get clean best. also when you dry them, bring along some tennis balls to put into the dryer with the quilt, it'll help the feathers detangle and fluff it up.

even if you laundromat wash it, yuou don't have to dry it there, if you have a place to hang it at home.
think creatively like a closet door or over a few chairs.

So I find this helpful thread only now????? After attempting to wash it in my own washer and water running out of it..and leaking into my neighbors ceiling and probably ruining my machine, or pipes or whatever.... GO TO THE LAUNDROMAT. NOW.

Actually, you can CALL the Laundromat, and they will pick it up and bring it back, for less than the cleaners!

You don't need that service. Bundle it up in a big recycling bag, wash it and come back in 20 minutes and bring it home wet.

I say wash it at the laundromat and dry it at home cause it'll take a long time and yes put in several tennis balls if it is down ... it'll fluff it back up...
