wow, that's a nice list of names! Smile

it's funny, I only know of one clemence and she's in her 50s, it's not a very common name, maybe in france it is?! but I know lots of victorias, actually my friend just called her baby victoria too (in france too). actually, come to think of it, they are all original names...good job! I love when people give original names!

what are you going to call her on a daily basis? I assume you won't use all 5 names at all times...

You're right, "older" names are becoming fashionable again around here. Victoria and Clémence are in this category, definitely Mathilde too. Not even mentioning Buena or Toba, they are definitely not in the "new" category, more in the "straight from the shtetl" one LOL
I couldn't believe some of the names at the maternity, really Middle Ages names. There was also a Neftali, I wonder if he was Jewish?? Or if it is a new trend like Noa, Ethan, Ilan...for non jews.

On daily basis we call her Mathilde, or Matel,or Mattie (don't even now how to spell it LOL ). Anything else would be much too long.

Ruchel, I have a friend here, in Israel, named Matilda. I think she spells it:
מתילדה, and everyone calls her: מתי.

I think it suits your cute baby!!!

my 1st was 3.945 kg. she was prestty big... the recovery was hard for me, and I guess it was due to her weight (episiotomy and tear etc...)

I don't think I gained that much tho' - I don't know exactly how much I gained with my pregnancies, never really paid attention.
I am this time around trying to keep track of my weight just out of curiousity.

It's debatable if weight gain is what is responsible for baby's size. Baby's size is more closely corelated to mother's birth weight (as long as their is no diabetes involved).

I've gained the same 20 lbs each pregnancy and have had babies that range in size from 2.9 kg to 4.1 kg.

Why does one mother have babies with very different weights?

Also, is it true that if you eat a lot of sugar during pregnancy, it can make your baby bigger? (not diabetic) Someone told me this during my pregnancy. The baby wasn't big, but just wondering.

Generally speaking, they don't. However, it is also known that as women have more children they tend to get bigger - the theory is there is more room for them to grow. I had babies of very different weights b/c the smallest one was early. However, my others have been between 3.6 - 4.1 kilo. Not that big of a difference.

Let's see, I had 3 - all on time , 2 @ 40 weeks and 1 @ 41 weeks. The first one came 2 days after her due date, and weighed 5lb. 15 oz., then I had #2 8 days after my due date and weighed all the way at the other spectrum - 8lbs. 9oz., and the third was right in between the first two at 7lbs. 6oz.

However, I did get bigger and bigger and bigger with each one LOL

OK, I'll go out on a limb here - the 7-6 and 8-9 really aren't that different statistically. If you think about it in grams it makes it easier to see - you had a range of 3400 - 3800 g (approximately). That makes 5-15 your one that doesn't fit the norm - but there are lots of thing that can affect baby's size - poor placental implantation, clotting disorders, smoking. I really only gave my example as just examples - on the whole women tend to have babies in a certain range. And yes, they do (on the whole) tend to get bigger - but not always!

The correlation between mother's birth weight and child's is also not written in stone, I guess. My sister weighed ca. 7 lbs at birth and her children weighed between 8.5 and 9.14. She did not have GD.
