My newly trained 2 1/2 year old made in her panty and not just wet. Now my question is should I wash it by itself? I feel so weird running a whole washing machine for just one panty. Is it terrible if I wash it with a regular load? I once read in a parenting magazine that you should never wash soiled underwear with regular clothes because it spreads harmful germs. Is that true? And if yes, how should I clean it?

if you really want to wash them (and not just throw them out) hand scrub them, wearing gloves, in the laundry tub before you put them in the wash

any detergent will do if its recently stained, otherwise you may decide its time for a new pair

First I run it under the water in the bathtub. Then I soak it in a basin. After it soaks for a bit, I rinse it a few times and then put it in a regular load.
What did you do when she was a baby and had explosive diapers?

well, I only have two kids so far, and it only happened once or twice to each..

so all in all it was not that costly

OP here, when she was a baby I used disposable pampers but a couple of times it leaked real bad onto her undershirt and I threw those out. Now I do not want to throw these out, I don't know how often she'll be doing this and these are good, new pieces of underwear, it would be real wasteful to discard them whenever they're soiled.

Thank you all for your helpful replies!
(The little panty is soaking peacefully in a basin of cold water with Tide.)
