from proudmom's link:
Quote: | One of the Schindlers' lead lawyers, David Gibbs III, told CBS's "Face the Nation" that Schiavo has "passed where physically she would be able to recover."
"They've begun to give her morphine drip for the pain. And at this point, we would say Terri has passed the point of no return," Gibbs said. |

At least she is not in pain anymore.........
I think now they should demand full autopsy, b4 she is cremated.
Oh, this is sooooo tragic. I hope this country will not get to the situation like in Netherlandes.............

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - Described by her father as weak and emaciated, Terri Schiavo clung to life Monday, as police guarded her hospice room
She's still communicating, she's still responding. She's emaciated, but she's responsive," Bob Schindler told reporters after a morning visit with his daughter, saying that she showed facial expressions when he hugged and kissed her.
"I saw no evidence of any bodily discomfort whatsoever," Felos said, although he added her breathing seemed "a little on the rapid side" and her eyes were sunken.
Schiavo, 41, was in her 11th day without the feeding tube. Doctors said Schiavo would probably die within a week or two when the tube was removed on March 18. She suffered catastrophic brain damage in 1990 when her heart stopped for several minutes because of a chemical imbalance. |

We live in a sick world.
Where they starve people to death and then give them morphine!
They are more willing to give morphine then food!
anyone want to start a new America with me?
if you listen to any conservative talk show host, you know that Terri is well alive and still responding. responding means that she understands when you talk to her, makes movements with her arms, and talks back to you (in the way she could).
Terri is fighting to stay alive. She embodies the soul of America who is fighting the dangers of liberalism and communism.
and she is starving to death. for no reason.
we live in a sick world.
every time I ate, drank, and showered this week I felt guilty.
I know it wont help Terri if I dont eat or drink too, so I forced myself.

I agree with all the above, it's sickening and a terrible public precedent.
my f-I-law has a cousin whose mother was on a respirator and the doctors wanted to pull the plug.
the cousin was guided by Rabbi Tendler and made sure the plug was NOT removed
her mother subsequently recovered enough to go home where she lived a few more yrs, not in great health but alive and functioning!
what a zechus the daughter has, she literally prevented the doctors from killing her mother!

I don't understand. If she's "comfortable", and not having "bodily discomfort" THEN WHY IS SHE GETTING MORPHINE? Obviously dying of hunger and dehydration is not as peaceful and painless as they claimed!!!

This whole story literally makes me sick to my stomach. It almost makes me wish I didn't live in this country...
Btw, Terri Schiavo is not on ANY machines! she was simply using a feeding tube to get nurishment because she can't swallow very well. She can breath on her own, and her body is functioning in every other way. The judges wouldn't even allow her parents to somehow try and feed her through the mouth at this point either, so this whole story is very sick.

Since the beginning of humanity people in comas have died because of lack of food and water. Intravaneous nutrition is a medical procedure. The question is not so much giving her food, as providing terri with a medical procedure.

by the way, just an added point: no cameras are allowed into Terri's room.
guess who made that rule? of course, her "husband" Michael.
Rabbi Yonah Levin was on the radio last night, he said we shoudl stop calling her by her husbands last name, but rather by her maiden name: Terri Schindler.
her husband is not her family, her parents and siblings are.

I think there is more to this then we think. This is not like pulling the plug.
The only thing that I hope is that she doesn't suffer much longer and her body is laid to rest.
Also I have read in numerous places that her husband does want an autopsy. This whole thing is a media circus.
