Did I purchase a bad bunch? Is it me or is broccoli rabe exceedingly bitter. I tried a recipe that called for sautéing garlic and then wilting the rabe down and cooking it in water for 7 minutes. I literally could not swallow it, it was that bitter. I took off the hard stems first but that didn't help.
Is broccoli rabe the type of vegetable that either you love or don't or is there a better way to prepare it?
Thanks!

Broccoli rabe (also known as rappini) and broccolini are different things.... I love both but never buy broccolini because its so expensive. I cook broccoli rabe all the time, and everyone loves it. To loose the bitterness, try cooking it completelt submerged in boiling water with a fair amount of salt, like a tablespoon or more in 10-12 cups of water. Boil it for 20 minutes andthe componds that cause the bitterness break down. I love it.. great with a dry baked fish.
