I don't have an oven available & I want to roast garlic. Can it be done in the microwave? How?

I don't think it would get that "roasted" taste. maybe try in a frying pan? put in peeled cloves with oil and watch it very carefully.

when I roast garlic all I do is put peeled whole cloves in a little foil "pouch" I make with a little oil inside...and stick it in the oven. if you have a stove top available maybe use that method but place the foil pouch in a frying pan on a low heat for a while...that way it will pick up the "roasted" taste and texture and you wont have to keep checking on it
microwave I've never tried with garlic so I dont know what would happen

I don't think it would taste very good. Part of the act of roasting it is for the flavor roasting imparts. It is not a complicated process. Do a whole lot of it at once, squeeze it out into a container and keep it in the fridge for whenever you need. Slice off the top of the bulb, put it in a square of aluminum foil, drizzle the top with oil, fold up the foil and put it in the oven for about 45 minutes. It's so worth it!

it would not be roasted in a microwave ...
but you can certainly put it in aluminum paper/pan & roast it on the stove top - next to the actual fire

I tried it once from a recipe and it came out too crisp and very burnt and basically inedible. And it smelled. Maybe just my microwave?
Let us know if you are successful, please!

The best way to do it is in a crock pot. Peel a whole bunch of cloves, toss in some olive oil, and a teaspoon of sugar if you like.
Leave it on low overnight, and in the morning your house will smell like heaven! It will be perfectly carmelized.
