How do you get white crew socks white again, when soles get black from walking?

I have the same issue- I love walking around in them without shoes when I am home!

Bleach? And no matter how clean you keep your floors, there's always dust settling, so there's no way to prevent it.

I spray Shout on the soles of DD's socks or tights. takes most of the dirt out.

I love oxiclean for presoaking/spot cleaning.
I don't have experience with socks though. My grandmother ob"m used to get upset when we'd walk around the house without socks because it's a sign of aveilus (mourning). so now I'm really conscious about it and don't do it very often.
