I believe you are not supposed to bury anything with a body in a coffin, but does anyone have the exact reason?

My mother, who is not religious, wants to bury a picture of my kids in her father's coffin, and I don't want her to feel bad by saying no.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

I believe part of the reason may be because we cannot bring our physical belongings - death is a spiritual thing. We are not buried in suits or dresses but rather w/ a simple shrowd in a simple coffin open on the bottom to go back to the earth Hashem made us from.

It is allowed to bury Seforim with the deceased,I know this because when my mother ah.was buried a bag of sefarim was put in the earth with her;I have never heard of photos being buried with a body though.
