Were we the only ones insulted that they happened over yom tov and shabbos? We are following the elections and the canadates very closely so we can make an educated choice on who to vote for. I was very upset about the debates. We were planning on listening to them on the radio like we did with the VP one. I got so much out of the VP one.

I was really upset when the debates took place during yontiff. Yes you can find a transcript of the debates, but listening is so much better. Whatever I read after the debates in the newspaper was filled with biases of the paper - I wanted to scream. I can't even vote, but I feel very passionate about this election - so much so, that I actually daven about it during candlelighting. I think it has major ramifications for the Israel and the Jews.
We don't have a television, but I'm begging my husband to set up rabbit ears on our video machine so I can see the last debate. Body language is being played up big.

I'm in canada so even though I'm a us citizen I'm not going to be able to vote. (who has time to go down to the embassy here?)
I dont really know anything about what each candidate stands for. who is better for israel and the jews? CS, you mentioned that this election is really important.

I'm a Canadian so I can't vote, but if I could, Pres Bush would be my man. I totally don't trust Kerry on most fronts, especially since he declared he would take the question of Israel to the international front and take a vote. Excuse me? Except for Edward's little story about being in Israel near where one of the suicide bombs went off, I really haven't heard any support of Israel from the Democrats. It's really frustrating that so many older Jewish people will vote for him, because they are still voting for the old values of the Democratic party (for which he is NOT representative).
When I lived in Canada I was so disinterested in politics, if anything I was as socialist as you could be - now that I have children though, it is a totally different story.
Want to read a good book to point out the character of Kerry is? Try Unfit for Command - easy read, frightening information.

CS can you do me a huge fav? Do you have a link about kerry's feelings on Israel. My mom doesn't believe me and said he is strongly in favor of letting Israel defend itself.

I do not, but I can look it up. It was actually something I heard on the radio from one of his rallies. He also said we should be open to the Moslem communities as it's not everyone's fault - I.e. the terrorist thing I don't know about you, but I haven't heard the Moslem community anywhere condemning 9/11, the beheadings, etc.

I did not watch it - I listened to some of it, but unfortunately it was during the kid's night routine and they come first. From what I did listen to Pres Bush was great. Kerry didn't directly answer any of the questions - they were a platform for giving over his prepared "funny" jokes, his rhetoric, etc. bahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh humbug

I agree. I was reading commentary and everyone is saying Bush didn't answer questions and Kerry did... seriously were they confused about who was who? And that joke about marrying up from Kerry... oh my. I was a little wishy washy, but tonight made the final decision for me. Funny... I was the one who four years ago said if Bush won I was moving to canada!

thanks for the link zuncompany
the reason why the mainstream news after the debates favors Kerry is because the mainstream news is liberal and hates Bush!
from a Jewish-religious perspective - are we allowed to vote for someone who strongly opposes banning partial birth abortions, who strongly opposes increasing legal restrictions for abortions, who strongly opposes amending the constitution to define marriage as being between a man and a woman?
a [gentile] is forbidden to do abortions and a [gentile] is forbidden to have homosexual relations, it's part of the Noahide Laws
this is aside from (or in addition to) Kerry's pro-Europe, pro-U.N., anti-American views, and his strongly favoring unilateral Israeli concessions, and aside from his numerous lies and his ridiculous war record, and that he strongly opposes govt. funding of religious organizations and strongly opposes tuition vouchers (the latter two Bush supports)!

Motek... for once we agree on something!
As Glenn Beck said the other day "we need to amend the websters dictonary to the constitution." Than we won't have these issues.

Sara - I just heard an interesting discussion on the Dennis Prager show. It seems like this very liberal editor (I will try and look up the name of the paper and actually hopefully a site your mom can look up) is extremely anti Kerry (this man actually supported Gore in 2000 and was helping with his campaign).
Kerry was quoted in this article as saying that Arafat is a good man who actually wants peace, he's just surrounded by bad people advising him! Does this sound pro Israel? G-d help us if Kerry gets elected.
I will try to find this site for everyone to look at - this election is too important to sit on the sidelines and not be involved.
