Worried about it a year before so by the time I actually hit 30 - thought I was already there.

I spent my 30th birthday cleaning out my old house after moving out-of-state to a new one. I'm talking about all the odds and ends that weren't packed and sent with the movers. Oh, and b/c we were working so late into the wee hours of the night, all the kids had camped out on the floor, so we didn't want to wake them and go to a hotel. DH and I found an old blanket lying around and placed it on the floor. We found one pillow that we both shared. I walked around the whole day humming the birthday song! It wasn't fun, but it sure was memorable. On the up side, I didn't have time to mope about turning 30 b/c I was so busy!

DH wants to make me party too, but I'm not sure I'm in the mood (most of the guests would be HIS family, cuz my family doesn't live here...). so I'm not sure I'd like to spend money and time for/with them...it's just boring to me.
but DH wants to do something grand. I told him he should buy me a nice present instead of spending money on a party. LOL.
As to turning 30, I actually have no problem with that. I'm actually quite excited about it...
I just don't get when people say they wish they were still 19...I'm actually looking forward to see my kids become adults and get married and be a grandma and all that. I don't want to be 19 forever. that's what life is all about, growing..... this is just my take on things

DH and my friends planned a surprise party for me, except I ruined their plans when I came down with the flu , including 103 fever. I still had the party, but dh had to tell me, because I wouldn't go over to my neighbor/friend's house when she asked me to come by for some bogus reason. He was supposed to set up while I was gone , and I sort of had an inknling when after telling my friend no I'm soooo sick, she said, "so what, please come with me"! Plus dh was trying to push me out of the house, too.
When I found out that all my friends wee due to arrive within an hour, I loaded up on medication , got my act together, and had a really great time!

DH turns 30 in 6 weeks. I'm trying to plan a nice night out for us. Dinner someplace really nice & maybe we'll stay in a hotel overnight. That is, if my parents can take my kids. I'm also working on buying 30 small gifts. So far I have 3!

My husbands twenty sixth is coming up in a month and the small gifts sound like a grand idea. Can you tell me like what small things I can get him? How small are you talking about?

If you have the money for thirty small, why not one really nice meaningful one instead? I'd take a moderately priced piece of good jewlery over 30 $5 or $10 pieces. eg. one pearl necklace for same price as thirty shmattes.

for DH's 30th, I made him a b-day party. it was a murder mystery party, it was a lot of fun, everyone had to come dressed up (I emailed everyone the scenario, and everyone was playing a different character...). that was a cute party.
For my 30th, my sister surprised me and came from out of town - I was SHOCKED! no one ever did anything like this for me...it was really nice, we spent a whole day together, went shopping and got manicures - we never get to hang out together, so it was really special....
DH made me a nice b-day party at my house. He rented a "game", not quite sure how to describe it....basically, it's these 2 huge sumo wrestler costumes with a huge mat that goes on the floor. so you dress up and wrestle on the mat. pretty much all the female guests didn't want to do it, but it was so hilarious seeing the guys do it. they looked funny, and they could hardly move around because they were wearing this huge padded suits, and heavy helmets (that looked like sumo hair, they wear some kind of a bun or something).
Leave it up to DH to come up with something crazy like that...he's just too funny. everyone was being a good sport, and it was just fun to watch!
