I planted mini flowers in a simple pot and will add them to a 'Har Sinai' (made of play dough).

Made a crown out of cardboard with a picture of dd holding a sefer torah.

Next week we're making cheese muffins and will decorate with edible flowers.

I'm throwing the ideas out here even if I'm not a morah. I did/will do these with my dd. Maybe it can be helpful to any of you.

I'm only doing shavuos songs right now, but I think that there is a Kivi and Tuki song (Country Yossi) about be bold like a lion and swift like a deer to do mitzvos.

Hashem gave us a present...

My father used to sing us:

Oh what does it say in the torah from hashem, oh what does it say in the torah....it says. (Child fills in blank) that's what it says in the torah.

Oh what else does it say....

Here are 4 of my favorites:

Mountain Song:
I am a mountain so very high (standing, hands reach up)
I can reach way up to the sky
The Torah should be given on me
Cause I am as high as can be, you see.

OH, NO!! (spoken loudly)
I am so very wide (arms and legs out)
I can reach from side to side
The Torah should be given on me
Cause I am as wide as can be, you see.

OH, NO!
I am more beautiful than you (hands on face in beauty pose)
There are so many things I can do
The Torah should be given on me
Cause I am as beautiful as can be, you see.

But little Har Sinai just stood there and sighed, (crouch down)
I know I'm not tall, I know I'm not wide
The Torah can't be given on me
Cause I am as small as can be, you see

From all of the mountains, Hashem chose (jump up) Sinai
Because it did not hold itself high
It had such gentle and humble ways
From this, we learn that humbleness pays.

I do a role play with the kids before doing "Hashem Gave Us a Present", where 2 kids are melachim, and the rest are divided into groups of 2 or 3. The last group is B'nai Yisrael. The melachim (with my help) go to each group and say, "Do you want Hashem's Torah?" Each group says, "NO, NO, it's too hard!" The last group says "YES, YES, na'aseh v'nishma!" Then we sing the song.

I love Beily Paruch's action rhyme books. Today, I will be teaching this one -- never used it before, but it looks adorable:

Here is the parchment (arms and legs spread)
So clean and wide
Here is the quill (hands at sides, feet together)
that's hollow inside
Here is the ink (arms make a circle in front of you)
so shiny and black
For writing the letters (use finger to write a letter in the air)
without a crack
Roll up the scroll (rolling motion)
And tie it like this (tying motion)
Now, I'm a Torah (hands in air)
Please give me a kiss!

Torah tziva lanu...

(tto "On top of Old Smoky")
On top of Har Sinai
A mountain so small
Hashem gave the Torah
The best gift of all

Moshe Rabbeinu
Got it from Hashem
Who said we should learn it
Again and again

On the day of Shavuos
We should recall
How we got the Torah
The best gift of all.

I don't know where the tune to the mountain song comes from but it's well known. (if you pm me, I'll give you my phone number and sing it for you).

Update -- the rhyme worked great, but be careful about the ending of it when teaching older 4's and up -- you have to make sure they don't get crazy about the kiss thing. A quick transition to the next activity works well.

I just found this thread. I'm bumping it for fresh ideas for this school year. This is an incredible journey through the year for preschool Morahs with song and craft! Shkoyach to the contributors.

This song is not as creative as the other posters but my almost 2 group loved it for Parshas Noach:

- Noach song (tune of wheels on the bus):

Noach in his boat had animals, animals, animals
Noach in his boat had animals
Animals in the taiva...

Noach in hisboat had a lion - roar!
a lion - roar!
a lion - roar!
A lion in the taiva…

Repeat with:
§ Ducky - quack!
§ Doggie- ruff!
§ Sheep - baa!
§ Horse - neigh!
§ Cow - moo!

Yes thanks for bumping this, I am going to be following it now as I have a 2 year old playgroup this year (some older 2's some not even 2 yet!).

For Noach I am making a Teivah with them and I sung this song which they love:

Noach was a Tzadik, a Tzadik, a Tzadik
Noach was a Tzadik in his times
The people all around him were wicked, wicked
The people all around him were wicked, I’m sorry to say
Hashem said Noach build a Teivah, a Teivah, a Teivah
Noach build a Teivah For everyone to see
The rain came pouring, pouring, pouring
The rain came pouring for 40 nights and days

I am also debating doing something to do with a rainbow with them if I have time. I may just print out rainbow pics for them to color in.

For a rainbow, they'll make semi-circle strokes w/ dot paint.

cute idea although I didn't have time to do it, we just colored one in, will file it away as an idea for next year though. Thanks!

What are people doing for Lech-Lecha? Any simple songs? I am planning on making a star with a picture of them in it comparing them to the stars and they will decorate it with star stickers. Does anyone have anything more hand-ons? I was thinking a suitcase connected to Avraham travelling but how does one make one?

You can cut a suitcase shape out of a file folder, and let them fill it with stickers of clothing and travel things, food, or whatever.

I just wrote a new song for this parsha. As always, I welcome your cosnstructive feedback.

I'll put the words here, and am thinking of making a private youtube of the tune that you can pm me to access.

CHORUS: Go, go, go, Avram, go
Go to the place Hashem will show you
Go, go, go, Avram, go
Go to the place Hashem will show you.

(For pre-k and K kids, I added the relevant Hebrew during the second repetition -- Lech l'cha, Avram, go
El ha'aretz asher areka). I also added the following verse for the older ones:
Take Sarai and Lot, go, go, go,
Take Eliezer, go, go, go,
Take people who learn with you, go, go, go
El ha'aretz asher areka.)

(Then, I invited kids to think about what they wanted to pack in their "suitcase", which was a mat in the middle of the circle. For the very little ones, I gave them a choice of dress-up items, plastic foods, etc; for the older ones, I let them tell me their own choice. They then put the item -- or were themselves that item -- and jumped into the suitcase. We returned to the refrain after every couple of items, and again at the end)

____ in the suitcase, go, go, go (3x)
Go to the land Hashem will show you!

Great lyrics. I hear The Wheels on the Bus for it.

Thanks! It would indeed work to that tune, but might be a bit hard for preschoolers to sing, as that tune has some difficult intervals for little people. I'll try to get this up tonight with my tune.
