I often wear a tichel in a bun tie or just quickly tied and I feel bored with that style and like maybe it is dated and out of style. Where I live it seems like many woman wear cute short crochet snoods, but I can never find a flattering color (black and navy are too dark for my skin tone, blue looks so nice on the blue eyed - but not me, and grey makes me look like I have grey hair) plus I feel self conscious because I carry extra weight in my face. What are other cute ways to cover my hair on days I don't wear a sheitel? I'm yeshiva-ish, probably dress more modern yeshivasih and in Brooklyn.

what colors do look good on you??
this chenille snood comes in a plum purple and looks amazing on! It is not as severe as black or navy so maybe that would work for you??

Maybe tan/brown berets? Sorry don't know where to buy them myself but I've seen people wear them and they're nice and soft looking.

in the winter- any cute berets, knitted hats..(Target!) summer- bandana pre-ties (they have in every color!) Last time I was in Israel I went on a scarf rampage. I think I bought every color in Israel Choosing btwn a hot pink sparkely or or a deep blue keeps me from getting bored. I also feel self concious in snoods.. so when im around ppl but dont feel like wearing the whole wig I stick my fall on very low under my bandana so I have hair stticking out but its completely off my face. Makes a huge difference in appearence and is only slightly less comfy then just a snood.

I have a drawer full of berets and pretied bandanas. I used to wear the israeli tichels too, but the berets and pretieds are so much more comfortable.

I think the green would be best on me from the choices there, though I am not partial to it as a color. I don't think I looked at that link when I was browsing the site, maybe because I thought chenille would be too hot for summer? Have you tried it? I tried a green one that looked like a similar material, but appeared more hunter green, on at Legaacy yesterday and I would have bought it if it was fall, but something about that color of hunter green is hard for me to see as summery. In the link you send me it looks more emerald or jewel toned which I like a lot more.
Seeker, yes I think the tans or colors similar to my hair color are probably the most flattering, but it is hard to find. I love berets over a sheitel/fall in the winter, not too confident in them alone though. Have you seen that style in stores? I would definitely try it on.
Spring13,, Wow, she wears that well. I think I have too much weight in my face for that, but thank you for the link. That site is new to me and refreshing. I am going to check out the videos to see if maybe I can learn a new tichel tie I'll feel confident in.
Ewa-jo I love that look! I wear several like that in the winter. I just feel big faced in a beret alone though and was trying to find something else to do besides a tichel in a bun tie on the rainy days, or days the humidity would ruin my sheitel or when my sheitel is getting styled.
Sar, how do you tie your scarf with your fall? Like a kercheif? I love scarfs and tichels, (I don't look good in pretieds and they slip on me) I just feel dated and drab looking in the typical bun tie. What do you do when you are around people, but it is raining or super humid or your sheitel is getting styled?

I was also sick of the bun style and started wearing it like this.

I find it much more classy some how, and am much happier with this look. It's also easy to tie and I find it slips less.

I have actually been doing a lot of research on this myself and I've found some great stuff. I assume that these woman are okay with me sharing this.
I don't know how to post links but RivkaMalka.com and andreagrinberg.com both have great videos both "how to" videos and inspiration videos. Their videos are on youtube also. There is a a website named Judithdeparis.com. She has beautiful type headcoverings mostly made by someone from France who lives in Israel. She has many more things on her facebook page because her website is still being worked on.

I like very long snoods, short snoods with a headband on the "hairline" or more in the back.
If a covered sheitel is ok, you can do gorgeous things. A snood over a sheitel, with lots of beautiful hair out, is great. Also a fall with a cute hat or beret or bonnet. But people may assume you're not fully covered, that's the risk of the covered sheitel.

You are right in that you would think it is a more fall/winter item but chenille snoods continue to sell well into the summer and ppl do wear them year round. Its the in-thing in many communities right now.
We are out of the green - it was kinda olivey colored.

A friend of mine ordered a few custom hats from her and they are absolutely divine!
She can customize any hat, like if you prefer the brim on one hat, but the back from another hat, she will create a unique hat to meet your requirements. The hats my friend ordered were made to her head measurements and cover her hairline perfectly. They are pricey, but so worth the investment and will last a lifetime with proper care. I'm saving up and hoping to order one from her soon. She also has a shop in Hudson, NY where you can try on the hats.

I'm seeing a lot of people wearing tichels that were sold as scarves in department stores. All different prints, textures, and colors - much more variety than you can find in a frum store or site. They tie them in the back and let the extra fabric just hang down their back. I wish I could find a link to post!

Like this?
I have some vintage Hermes scarves and I wear them like this (only my hair is tied up and covered by the scarf)... I think it looks very chic and European.
