su7kids - somewhere else on the forum you write that even though your hair is short, your sheitel hurts your head

you are probably, like me, blessed with a big head!

no, not all heads are created equal

ever pick up a beret or snood and wonder who it was made for, because in the hand it looks like it will fit a 4 year old?

I finally discovered that there are snoods that are made for big heads. What an enormous difference! No more brain-squeezing!

and for sheitels - the nets come in different sizes, and if even the biggest isn't big enough, they can be made bigger

I am a firm believer in no brain-squeezing! And I also think that if a custom sheitel is what someone needs to feel comfortable, then by all means, go for it!

Where did you find snoods for big heads? I don't have a big head but I have long hair so NOTHING fits me, esp sheitels.

I found tichels work best for that. I have a small head in general, but even my head is to big for some. ahhhh!

Also I found the shaytels from CK wigs in CH are great. Even my friends with huge heads love her shaytels.

Uptown Girl Snoods has large size snoods in addition to regular, though definitely not as many to choose from in the large sizes

they're located in Boro Park:
4313 13th Ave

and Flatbush:
1219 Ave J

beautifull shmates!!
I like that
don't know I never even checked if mine were indian but I don't think they are.

about me being itchy, I never put it on wet, I don't have dandruff .
I think its the sheitle hair poking through the wrong side and no matter how much I pull it back through with the stick at the end of the comb it doesn't help.
Its European hair but not custom fit and is getting old but I can't afford a new one now.

I heard and don't qoute me that they are fine. I heard that when they did more research it came out that the women had no kvana or something when they hair was cut and it was purely cause they needed money. B"H I didn't have to worry. CK wigs don't have any issues cause she has known about it for years.

Rochel Leah! You have solved my problem!!! Now I know why my dandruff got worse. Thank you

Motek I too have a big head .... it doesn't mean I am one though... lol
I just buy reg size sheitals since the net always stretches especially the Tara and Miami sheitals after washing

no, my sheitels don't itch

re Indian hair sheitels - oh boy, I was really "into" that topic for a while
bottom line - ask your own rav but the consensus is that there's no problem
most people don't even have Indian hair sheitels anyway. I actually have one, and wear it

freilich - if it works for you ... not for me! It's like buying those shoes you really like that aren't comfortable, but yeah, they're going to stretch. And until they do? suffer?

I have an indian hair sheitel, I was really upset b/c I love my sheitel. but then I found out that lubav. holds that they are fine. I dont know why other sects hold its not good.

I find that my sheitel starts to really bug me, (no bugs, though Smile ) and itch if I wear it for a long time. like if we're out all day.

There is an article in this months National Geographic explaining the Indian ceremony when cutting off the hair (tonsure). Read it! It mentions Orthodox Rabbis.

I find my sheitel bothers my head because no matter how I brush my hair, it always gets parted under the sheitel in a weird way, causing discomfort and sometimes even sores. I wear Eli's from Israel - human hair but not custom - I would love an Allegra from Toronto, but they're a little steep.

I hear from sheitel machers that allegra sheitels are beautiful but after a year they look like a shmatte no matter what you do.

I was a sheitel macher before my daughter was born and That's not true, maybe they just don't take care of their sheitel, but they do bald near the part.

maybe, I have never owned one because the sheitel machers told me not to invest money in it. maybe they have changed since then.

my eli also balds near the part - he is very good about his sheitels though, my sheitel macher sends it back to Israel and he repairs it for free.
