Does "Message" on Facebook work like a PM here, or will it appear on the Wall or otherwise let other people (besides the one I messaged) see it? Is it a good way to contact someone privately if you don't have their email address?
Also, do you need to Friend the person before you send a message?
(go ahead and take some time to laugh at my facebook-challengedness before answering... )

Yes, it works like a PM - the person sees that they have a new message, but it's not on their wall or anywhere public.
No, you don't have to friend someone to send them messages.

I also worried about this, but the messages are private, and saved for future reference.

Now if you write on their wall, on the other hand, all of their friends will see that.

some ppl have a setting that you cannot send them messages unless you are friends - so no you can't send everyone/anyone a message.

So I sent a "message"-- I think. Is there a way to check it really got sent (like a place listing outgoing messages from me or something.)
The reason I'm not sure it went thru is I hit okay or send or something, then it went to a page just showing the message with a place to Reply, and I just exited the page.
