The kind that people just gobble up. I am hosting a parlor meeting and I want to have some sort of salad that is good in its own right, it doesn't need other food with it. Any ideas?

Chop Chop Salad-
1 head shredded cabbage
3/4 C sliced scallions
1 C chopped red pepper
2 15oz cans of mandarin oranges (I used less)
2 C honey roasted peanuts or cashews

Dressing:

1/2 C oil
2 Tbsp. sesame oil
2 Tbsp. peanut butter
1/2 C rice vinegar
1/4 C sugar
2 tsp. soy sauce
2 tsp. grated fresh ginger

my new favorite is a honey/mustard dressing.

1/4 c mayo
1 tsp mustard
1 tsp honey(recipe calls for lemon juice, but I skip it)

w/ diced purple onion, craisins & candied almonds on top. yum!!

btw & use this recipe for chicken,shnitsel pieces & coat w/ crushed cornflakes

Purple Cabbage salad

1 bag of purple cabbage
3 scallions sliced
toested sesame seeds
chalmagne noodles

dressing:
little oil
drop of salt & pepper
4 T. sugar
3 T vinegar

I make it all the time & it always gets finished & it's ez to make.

the best pasta salad:
1bag macaroni (or any other)
3 scallions sliced
1box grape tomatos

in a bowl
1/2 cup oil
2 crushed garlic
1&1/2tsp basil
1tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt

pour it on cooked pasta, add scallions and slice tomatoes in half. Its heaven!

Taco Salad - I don't have measurements

lettuce
tomatoes (or cherry tomatoes)
Optional- olives, sliced red onion

Dressing, (add before serving): equal parts mayo and salsa. This dressing didn't stay so well when I made it ahead of time, but it's easy to put together.

Toss with crushed taco chips.

yum your salad ideas sound realy good. I had a bag of cabbage in the fridge, couldnt think of what to make with it, bored of all my usual recepies. think ill try sthing new, thank you!! Wink

easy euro salad

1 bag lettuce
cut up cherry tomatoes
garlic croutons
(and anything else you like)

dressing

1/2 cup mayo
squirt mustard
1/8 cup sugar
1/8 cup vinegar
1/8 cup water
garlic powder or one crushed garlic

(I dont measure the amounts, I just pour in approximately and there is almost never any leftovers)

this salad never stays over...and I have TONES of ppl that come eat by me!

shreded lettuse
cherry tomatos
fresh sliced mushroom
small salad onion/red onion sliced
craisins
carmelised almands

dressing:
3 tbs mayo
1 tbs mustard
3 tbs sugar
garlic powder
little salt
black pepper

only put dressing before serving!
