proud we have a ds bh but its not our minhag 2 grow hair till 3- of course if it was, u already know what I would have done w it!!!! Yes

I saved the hair from my three boys upsheren. I braided it before it was cut. Gorgeous blond hair!!

I heard somehwer that you are not supposed to just throw it out. that the hair is holy.

I know someone who gave the hair to 'locks of love', her sons hair was really long and thick and so she wanted someone else to gain something from it.

My MIL still has my husband's hair from his upsherin. It's a good thing, otherwise I would never have believed my husband when he said he used to have blond hair. Smile

Technic, at what age did u first give ur kid a haircut? Also did you do anything special for his 3rd birthday? (it's also not our minhag)

I also don't wait till 3. I cut my sons hair when it got too long and messy around 12 months. When he turns 3 it will be very special because he will get a Yarmulka and tzitzis (if he's toilet trained)

1stimer I cant remember when he had his first haircut - just when he needed it I guess - and no, we didnt do anything special when he was 3 (apart from present him w a baby sister 4 days later! Lady

)

one thing we DID do w all our kids is send a lock of each first haircut 2 the 2 grandmas (and keep 1 for ourselves 2...)

After we cut the boys hair we put it in a plastic bag and put it in their special box. It has in their boxes cards from when they were born, birthday cards, baby name tags from the hospital when they were born, their cord clamp, their cot cards, projects that the kids have done in school and their first pair of shoes in this box.
I have also made a wall display with pictures from each of their Upshernish, in the middle of each one I've placed a curl of their hair.
