Which of these should I bring as a hostess gift for Succos?

We are going away for the first days of succos. We are flying by airplane, so I don't want to bring anything that I cooked at home or from the bakery or anything as a gift. So far I came up with these two ideas.
Either a nice gift basket from a candy store in the hosts' city (would call ahead, order it, and have it delivered) or a nice serving piece from a houseware store. I would make sure to include a gift reciept so my hostess can exchange it.
As a hostess, which would you rather recieve?

I like to bring Fresh flowers for the table. Otherwise, I'd like the serving piece, but that's because I'm a newlywed and never have enough glass serving pieces.

Fresh flowers isn;t an option for us. They will probably get ruined on the plane. I am not familiar with the area we are going to- it is very suburban and there may not be anyt shop within walking distance for me to go to on Friday morning to get flowers.

I vote goodies. It's yomtov after all. Extra goodies are always appreciated, whereas a serving piece has to be toiveled before use and if it is, mauy not be returnable.
And people don't nec. want a lot of serving things; maybe it should match their china or decor or whatever.
Whereas goodies - one size fits all!

Problem with goodies is the hechsher may be unknown or not one they hold by?

you could do a combination - candy/fruit/nuts on a serving dish - if the store has such things. I got one for our last bar mitzvah and it was really nice.

You could also do a nice handwashing towel or havdalah candle which would pack nicely.
I voted for goodies. I don't know how much you want to spend, but you could probably get a decent bouquet of flowers delivered to their house by using FTD or 1-800 Flowers.

I'm sure the kids would be thankful for the candy (though maybe the mother would not  )

How about something like this? There are these nice chocolate covered pretzels, and then the silver basket can be re-used:

another idea is- a shabbos lamp- It is a great gift - but a little expensive if its just a hostess gift.
