I"m not desperate for twins, but I do wonder if twins are in the cards for me. My mom lost my twin.. so "technically" I am a twin, and it is genetic. I just daven that all my children are born healthy and can raise them to be happy and fine human beings.

For the most part, yes. And the hormonal drop is often worse postpartum, putting one at higher risk for ppd.

Why is it wrong to want that?? Some twins are born prematurely - well...singletons too. Being pregnant in itself is risky but everyone wants babies. So what?!?
Yes, it is hard work but sometimes one single baby can be harder than two at a time.
Please do not scare the women that are currently pregnant with twins. It's not all black!! There is such a thing as healthy, normal twin babies. |
I couldn't agree with you more. Twins are a truly special blessing. My comment earlier about my micro preemies was only in context here in this particular thread, in response to the OP here. I would probably never post a comment detailing gloom and doom on a thread where a woman pregnant with twins is voicing her apprehension...
That said, I happen to be one of those who used to wonder if I would be lucky enough to be blessed with twins. I am not from the camp whose refrain is
"One at a time gezunterheit."
I am from the camp-
"Whatever the Ribono shel Olam gives, gezunterheit."
I was really excited when I discovered I was carrying twins. We all should be. Not sitting and fretting. We aren't supposed to worry about being hit by a car each day, are we?
Hashem runs the world. It is He who planned this particular destiny for me.
The only thing that compelled me to write here, is the way the OP phrased herself.
Desperately?

My friend had twins, after years of treatment. She was very happy to make up for lost time, but she got tons of doom and gloom comments, you'll have no life, blah blah. She also got comments when childless. Some people are always happy to hurt.

one of my children was originally a twin. In childhood, she would beg for twins - I told her: "fine. you'll take care of one and I'll take care of the other."
