We got married 3 years ago.
The photographer just now offered us to buy the negatives for $25 (cuz they know we're done getting reprints anyway, right?).
Is it kdai to spend the money "just in case"?
Or since color copies are so easy and professional now, should I not because I can always use the proofs?
(ex - it can cost only $10 to make an 8x10 from a regular photo)

it's now 3 years past your wedding.
bH you have kids....
THINK- would you realistically be reprinting photos in the future? For what?????
I'm assuming you'd want to hang more current photos up, that include your kids.....?

BUY YOUR NEGATIVES!!! I cant beleive he offered them for $25.00 I'm a photographer and I have yet to offer anyone the original files. There are photographers who sell the negatives or files and charge a gazillion dollars for them...... If my wedding photographer offered even for $200.00 I would do it in a second. Then I would be able o print all the pics I want and get all the enlargements I maybe couldnt have afforded.

buy them, and keep then in a safe place (maybe in your parents or in laws house.) That way, if ch'v your album gets ruined for whatever reason, you can make reprints.

(I have classmates in New Orleans who lost all their wedding photos. Sad lots of other stuff too! Well, hopefully you don't live in a flood prone area, but you never know...your toddler might dunk the album in negel vasser)

Disclaimer: I myself would never do anything so orginised.

I would definitely buy them! Nowadays, u can even put them onto CD from negatives (B&H photo definitely does it). It is probably expensive but I'm sure will get cheaper with time.
