my friend gave me this recipe for curried fish balls I have not tried it yet but plan to soon.

3 lbs of a white fish minced up (or 2 loaves of gifilte fish defrosted)

1 can of apricots

3 onions sliced

2 apples peeled and cut into chunks

1 cup white vinegar

1 cup water

2 Tbsp ketchup

2 tsp curry powder

1 cup raisins

salt

pepper

6 ginger biscuits

Mince the fish and fry into fish balls. Drain the apricots into a pot and boil the juice with all the ingredients except the fish, apricots, ginger biscuits and water. Boil until the onions are soft. Disolve the biscuits in the water. Combine the boiled liquid and the biscuit mush. PLace the fish balls in a dish. PLace the apricots among the fish balls. Pour the sauce over. Delicious served cold. Yum!

I like to make potato or meat knishes with a hot mushroom sauce. I usually serve it Friday night because I find that the sauce is a smoother consistency when very hot. If it's on yom tov, then you obviously don't have to be specific like that. ENJOY!

I went somewhere for shabbos lunch and she did a really nice mini version of a mixed grill salad individually served. I also went somewhere where the hostess served mini sweet and sour meatballs on orzo pasta - also individually served. delicious Very Happy

Salmon over angel hair pasta looks very nice.
Last year I did the tri-color pasta recipe from Kosher By Design Entertains, and this teriyaki salmon recipe http://imamother.com/forum/vie.....34478
It was delicious!
This year I am trying one from the cookbook Gatherings. Its angel hair with a tomato sauce, and salmon skewers on top.

How much do you want to cook already? I think I'm going to make potato knishes with mushroom sauce, stuffed manicotti, and gefilte fish. The fish being for Shabbos, and the other 2 being alternated on Y"T.

jamie geller has a good apple eggroll, the recipe is here. http://www.joyofkosher.com/201.....olls/

you could also serve different foods with the simanim in then, like a nice salad with pomegranate in it, roasted chicken with carrots and leeks, black eyed pea salad, a sweet zucchini kugel, and date cake for dessert.

I plan on trying out these 2 recipes:

Avocado Salmon Spring ROlls - http://kosherstreet.com/2011/0.....auce/

Malawach Fish

1 roll gefilte fish
2 round pans
4 malawach sheets

optionals:
- sliced or diced onions
- diced onions, red peppers, green peppers, mushrooms, any other good saute type of vege
- tomato sauce

place 1 malawach in each greased pan.
pat down half a roll of gefilte into each.
ether sprinkle optionals veges raw, or sautee first and then put on.
cover with the other 2 malawach sheets.
egg, sesame
bake on 350 for 45-1 hr (?)

can b frozen either b4 or after baked. If freezing after baked, I would defrost in oven the way I do kugels.

I also just saw a recipe for gefilte fish where you slice the roll while it;s semi-frozen. Put a few Tbsp. of oil in the bottom of a baking pan and layer a bunch of onion slices. Sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic powder. Put fish slices on top of onion rings and spice again. Add more onion rings. Cover and bake for 30-40 min.

The Morrocan Turnovers are in Kosher By Design Short on Time. I made them last year and they were a big hit. I baked them almost completely before YT, froze them and then reheated on YT.

My family also likes Chicken Blintzes with Mushroom Sauce. I take left over soup chicken and sautee it up with onions, garlic, celery, mushrooms and peppers. Then roll it in crepes and fry.

There is an angel hair pasta recipe with pan fried chicken in it - asian style.

Pumpkin brekas is traditional for Rosh Hashana. Frittata, vegetarian chopped liver, mushroom pate, lots of different salatim and dips.

If you prefer fish, you can do fried fish (small bite-size pieces of white fish like cod or haddock, fried wither with breadcrumbs or batter, serve at room temp), moroccan fish (there were several recipes posted before), I also do salmon patties, or mini salmon kebabs. Or smoked salmon roses, or smoked salmon with melon if you want something that doesn't require cooking.

I plan on making a deli or chef's salad. I have a pretty one w/ turkey, pastrami, purple onion, cherry tomato and a honey-mustard dressing. I plan on serving soup as an appetizer for at least one or two meals, gonna try to get a vegetable or cream soup recipe. I plan on serving light meals this year as it's a 3 day Y"T 3 times!

Gefilte fish is much better when bought frozen, not in the bocals.

It can be prepared salty or sweet, cold warm or hot, traditional or exotic...

What is the din is a shaila.
