I had this amazing salad once- but can't find the recipe anywhere.
here are some of the things that were in it, maybe you can help me find it or recreate it.
lettuce
avocado
mango
some type of nut
dressing - what I really want to find!
it had:
mayo
oil
soy sauce
garlic (maybe)
I am missing some ingredients! anyone familiar with which salad this may be?

I vaguely remember soy sauce in it. but if I'm wrong and it didn't, would you recognize the rest of ingredients without it? I don't particularly care for soy sauce that much anyway.

could it be with balsamic vinegar, which is what you confused w. soy sauce b/c they're the same color?

I feel like there are a bunch of similar salads to the one you described. I wouldn't use soy sauce in a dressing though I would go with the balsamic vinegar.

I agree that it is most likely balsamic vinegar (also a brown color). I don't see how soy sauce would work with those ingredients.
here's a salad that sounds similar to what your looking for (no mayo tho):
Lettuce
avocado
mango
slivered almonds
chopped red onion
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup oil
1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
1 tsp salt

Oh it is! (with all that sugar how can it not be )
The chopped onion is important, it adds to the dressing flavor. If you don't have any, use onion powder.

thanks for all your help. but sadly I don't think this was the salad...or even so similar. I must say, I really do think there was soy sauce in it. I will try and hunt it down and post it if I ever get ahold of it because it was so yummy!

How about mayo, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, ginger, garlic, dry mustard, and black pepper?
