My husband and kids will mostly be having variations of pasta. Lasagna, ziti, etc. Tonight they're having Felafel.
I'm on a diet so I'm trying to stay away from pasta. I'd love some fish but I try not to make it that much because some family members are sensitive to the smell. So I'm making myself a nice batch of healthful muffins. I mostly wing it but it has oats in there so it's sort of like a nice big bowl of oatmeal for supper.

Last night I made veggie black bean chili with corn, served with taco chips w/ melted cheese and sour cream.
Tonight I may go for some kind of potato casserole or gratin of some sort.

Pizza Dough:
1 Tbsp dry yeast
2 cups lukewarm water
2 tsp sugar
3 tsp salt
2 Tbsp oil
6 cups flour
Dissolve yeast and sugar in the water. Add remaining ing and kneed to form a dough. Allow to rise for about an hour or two. Split dough in 2 (recipe is for 2 pizza rolls)
Roll dough in big rectangle (not too thin, itll crack in the oven). Evenly spread a nice amount of tomato sauce onto rolled out dough. Sprinkle grated mozzerella and munster cheese on top. overlap about an ince of the dough both sides of rectangle length. (will prevent sauce and cheese from leaking out of the dough). roll dough to form the pizza roll. Bake on 350 covered for 45 min. uncover, beat an egg, shmear on top and add sesame seeds. Bake another 15 min uncovered until golden brown on top. Allow to cool 5 min before cutting slices. you can add any kind of topping as well.
my tomato sauce recipe:
1 can tomato sauce
1 can tomato juice
crushed garlic
black pepper
pizza spice or italian spice
Enjoy! It looks really pretty as well.

It's just me and my DH, and since I don't eat dairy and we're not such fish eaters, I've been sticking to pulses and eggs.
Sun: zuchinni stuffed with green lentils in tomato sauce, brown rice, salad
Mon: roasted pepper and quinoa burgers*, grilled zuchinni, baked potatoes, cucumber sticks
Tue: red lentil stew and poached eggs, orzo, red cabbage salad
Wed+Thu: to be decided!
Really yummy so here's the link: http://erinschubert.blogspot.c......html

its mourning days and not party days. | You truly are lucky that you're family will eat that.
Mine would be at the take-out and candy store before I could blink my eye. How is take-out and candy not partying during the 9 days?
Besides, my menu isn't different than my year round menu, so we are definately not partying.

I don't agree with partying either, but nutritious, filling meals are not a problem. I serve my family whatever dairy or pareve meals we would eat for any other dinner during the year. Since we don't normally eat salmon during the week, I don't serve it in the 9 days. I dont' try exciting, new recipes either. Ziti and salad is a fairly typical weekday dinner on any given night, and that's what we had last night. No reason to fast extra days- we already have enough of those!

Why is a nice full course meal considered partying? I cook full nutritious and exciting meals. Theres no music, fancy place settings or guests to entertain. Its just our family enjoying a meal as usual. My husband would never be satisfied with scrambled eggs after a 10 hour days work.

I am a bit at a loss. Coming up with soy, dairy and fish free meals for the nine days is a bit challenging. So far we have been eating pasta, scrambled eggs and more pasta. I need to cook up some beans, make borritos and figure out a menu for the rest of the week.

Oh my... I'm feeling very inadequate now. I served mac and cheese last night, along with a vegi mix. Don't have anything on plan for tonight. Will probably take frozen pizza out for the kids, and then once they're asleep I'll go out shopping to be able to make something decent for dh and myself (as well as for the next few nights).
I'm trying to make myself feel better with the excuses that I live very oot (closest kosher store/restaurant 25 min away) and work full time... but gosh, reading about all you amazing housewives with gourmet dinners every night is kinda demoralizing. Oh well, as long as dh never finds out what "real" wives do, I'm ok.
