I have NY State teacher's certification but I'm currently living in Israel. I need to fulfill my Professional Development requirements so I do not lose my certification. Does anyone know of any on-line courses I can take? I spoke with my college and with a woman from the Board of Ed and they were unable to help me. The Board of Ed insisted that there are on-line course available, but when I asked for links because I was unable to find any, she could not find them either...
All advice is greatly appreciated!!

First, how did you reach anyone to speak to??? I have some time sensitive questions about my own professional development requirements and can't reach anyone!

Second, you can go here for online professional development courses. You may want to double check if they are ok for NY state, but they should be fine:
pbs.org/teacherline, or google search for pbs teacherline. I am sure there are other providers of professional development though.

You can also google Scholastic RED.

Hope this helps.

did you try the office of teaching certification? 518-474-3901 or sometimes the UFT can answer teaching certification questions.

OP, these links contains links to some online professional development

http://www.oce.nysed.gov/etvpb/teachers.htm
http://usny.nysed.gov/teachers......html

also, I'm under the impression that any college class that is related to education, or your certification content area is applicable towards PD hours. so perhaps you can enroll in an online class at a school. If you are a UFT member, you can also sign up for UFT courses. the deadline passed for summer classes, but they should be publishing a fall '11 guide to UFT courses soon. check their website in the beginning of august.

OP-
Thanks so much for the replies. I am going to check out your links. Amother #2, I called and e-mailed and called..and eventually someone called me back! You can try e-mailing AJASINSK@mail.nysed.gov - she is the person I spoke to.
