I am bh 7 wks preg w twins and I am still nursing my 10m old. OB told me today it's time to stop nursing, and he's surprised she didn't stop by herself yet. I am planning on cutting down, because it's getting to be a bit much for me, but I don't want to stop completely, as she is still so little. I'm thinking of keeping it just morning and night, till the milk stops coming or she hits 1 yr, whichever happens first. Has anyone done this? Is it really so bad to be nursing while preg with twins?

I don't know how you have the energy to nurse while pregnant with twins. A twin pregnancy takes a big toll on your body and energy and I don't know how you're doing it. I'll let the experts weigh in on this, though I wonder how many have done so while carrying twins.

I nursed through a singleton pg, so I can't say how much different it is. My dr told me that my body gives to the fetus first, then the nursling, then me. So I had to make sure to eat, drink, and rest well. Well, I tried at least. Comfort nursing like you described is lower impact and if you can keep it up, kol hakavod!
One side bonus is that nursing time means time off your feet when the nursling is occupied, something a preggy mommy doesn't get much of otherwise!

I stopped by about week 10 (before I knew I was carrying twins), but my nursing baby was 19 months old at that stage. She was only on 2 feeds a day when I became pg.

OP here, thans for your replies everyone.
I think I didn't make it so clear in the fiest post, but I'm still nursing 6-10 times a day. I'm trying to cut down, but its really hard for my baby...

Honestly, I have no idea how you can do that. A twin pregnancy takes so much more from your body.

I nursed my twins while preg. with the next one. But they really stopped on their own prob. bec. my milk tasted different and also bec. there wasnt enough milk. The twins were about 13 months!

op I think you should start cutting down right now and go less and less every day. you will get drained otherwise, a twin pregnancy is very very exhausting.

Thanks everyone. BH, we've actually managed to cut down to 2-3 times a day (!) over the last few days, mostly because I've started feeding her a ridiculous amount of 'real' food. Although honestly, I have yet to see a difference in my exhaustion!

forgot to add, about having the energy- to me it seems to take a lot more energy to figure out what to feed DD, prepare it, and sit with her for 30-40 minutes while she eats it, and then clean up her, the high chair, the floor, the stuff in the kitchen....much simpler to just whip out a boob!
