I came home from my trip with a fistful (okay, two) new (Mexican) rcipes, so it's a Mexican food Shabbos for us!
In the past we've had Chinese food or Italian Shabbosim, but this is our first Mexican; does anyone else like to do this?
Anyway, we're serving:
regular wine and regular challah
plain baked gef. fish, maybe I'll sprinkle some cumin on it
*black bean salsa
*lime spiked black bean dip
diet wild cherry pepsi
*arroz con pollo
*mexican chocolate cake (it's reg chocolate cake with cinnnamon, basically)
DD thinks she won't like anything and begged to make her own food; I hope she finds someting to eat b/c she spent most of the afternoon cleaning and helping.....

That sounds great. If you do something like that again- you can also bake the gefilte fish with salsa on top. My mother does that and it's always a hit.

I made a Mexican theme for shabbos lunch once.
Beef burritos, guacomole, fake sour cream, taco salad, mexican rice.
This shabbos' theme is UNHEALTHY!
Pumpkin soup
scalloped potatoes
hamburgers (stuffed w/ mushrooms and coated with breadcrumbs)
shepherd's pie (I had leftover ground beef)

I usually shop thursday night, so I have a general idea of what I'm going to make. It's always subject to change!

Well, true to form, DD ate a little fish and challah. and that's it. oh, and chicken but no veggies and no rice; said the rice was fatty.
DH enjoyed it, so now he has a LOT of leftovers!!!!

I am so glad I'm not the only crazy person who does themed meals. We do Indian or Japanese as well as the Italian, Tex Mex, and Chinese.
