Having guests who will be experiencing their first Friday night meal, so trying to incorporate traditional and more "light" foods.

home made regular and whole wheat challah
home made gefilte fish
sushi platter (bought)
chatzillim, chrein
roasted beets and pine nuts salad
mango curry salad

chicken matzah ball soup

zuccinni stuffed chicken
french roast
asparagus

not sure yet about desert - maybe stuffed meringue shells with fresh fruit.

Trying almost all new things this week

store bought chocolate challah (my husband got it when I wasnt looking)
porcupine meatballs served over mashed potatoes
Asian chicken salad

lemon dill orzo
bok choy, apple, carrot salad
zucchini in tomato sauce

I just made my regular potato knish kugel (got it from this site, just do a search) and added smoked paprika, which is the flavor of BBQ potato chips. I think I added too much cuz I had no clue how much was necessary. everyone else liked it but I thought it was gross.....

So went from a lunch of 6 to 4 to 6 and now 10 (plus 2 toddlers) and I haven't started cooking or finished shopping.

Lunch

Challah
Baked apples as an appetizer
Cholent
homemade kishka
eggs
spinach salad
turkey burgers
(honey mustard shnitzel)
basmati rice with raisins
pasta salad with sundried tomatoes
some sort of kugel?

strawberry pie that is flat and folded over (can't remember its real name)
chocolate mousse
something else

I actually made challah- hope it comes out good. The ones I've made taste good, but I don't like the texture, too heavy.
store bought type of fish like herring and I made a sauce for it (thanks ra mom)
finally I'm serving the lamb
chicken for whoever doesn't want lamb
string beans with garlic bread crumbs
chumus
store bought salad and dips
marble pound cake

chips/salsa (dont ask me why, but for some reason EVERYONE loves it)

Shabbos day
sundried tomato salad from mishpacha a few weeks ago

all the dips from friday night

leftover desert from friday night.

oh, yeah, and Im due on Monday!!!!!!

Yay, just got a last minute invite for shabbos- which we never get, and haven't done a thing for shabbos yet, so BH we are just home friday night.

Challah
gaucamole, chummus, matbucha

soup and kneidlach

honey chicken
garlicky green beans and tomatoes.

choc. chip sticks

Now, I better go cook that, cuz all I have done so far is cut up veggies for soup and put water up to boil.
