A dancing mob of brooms and dust
Floats menacing round my head
My two vacuums express mistrust
My heart, it sinks like lead.

Cleaning products of all stripes
Accuse me of neglect
“Pesach’s in a week!” they gripe,
“Your mirrors don’t reflect!

“Your walls are grimy, floors like glue
Your study full of junk,
The day will come when you will rue
Wasting your time with bunk!

“Next week, you’ll try to clean all night
Like you do every year
You will collapse, you’ll look a fright
When you at last get in high gear.

“How dare you sit at your PC
And calmly read some posts
Oh, you’ll regret it, you will see
When tomorrow you hear boasts

“Of who has cleaned their domicile
And who has turned right over—
This holy mission you defile
By grazing in the clover!”

Oh, why is this to be my fate
Why can’t I learn from past years’ haunts,
If I must start cleaning late
Why can’t I just ignore the taunts?!

thanks for making me smile at the end of an exhausting day! (a day where my 9 year old neighbor said, when watching me clean my kitchen chairs, "You didnt do this yet?!?! gotta love it!)
