for anyone teachers looking for an easy alternative to staples for booklets, a good hole puncher and some ribbon or string works well. this does take slightly longer then stapling though.

Personally I do not feel guilty throwing out kids artwork after a few days. The value is the making of it. Let them enjoy the project and maybe use it for a bit.

I agree with this, but the only thing that makes me feel guilty is wondering if the child will be missing it. On the occasion that the kid sees it in the garbage (I do try to hi de it) or find a long lost project that didn't make it into the garbage, she's so excited or will sometime say that she's been wondering where it was.

I do keep the special projects for a long time, such as a very nice flowers for shavuos, or hagados with the photos in them.

Ok I read through the whole thread and phew!!!!!!!
I used to be a preschool teacher until dd was born because I needed my koach for her. the hours kochos that I gave to the kids in school exausted me so much that I had to choose, however I still miss my job!

OK about staples, you have a point in that however there are far more choking hazard out there its imposible not to use them all and as a mother of crawling babies we need to be head on those kidos and follow them allday and make sure they dont have anything in their mouth.(would you believe that a litle star sticker almost killed a baby? we need to do our best and Hashem does the rest
Now glidder you have a point that its all over you but you know what its all over the classroom too kids still love it the shiny look and shaking the bottle or squising the tube the kids loved it and we used it often.
As for painting its a messy job! I personally hated it but did it anyway! the kids loved the touch its very good for their sensory. A TIP TO ALL THOSE TEACHERS, we usd o put in soap and white glue to help it stick to the surface and for cleaning out of cloths.

I personally liked to have the kids do the most on their projects, and I also liked to send home nice projects so we did both I made them do it themselves while I did it one on one or with a group of Max 5 kids. if I was able to divide the progect in steps I would guide the class as a whole but I MADE THE KIDS DO IT!
TIP To Teachers again, Modpodge is very god to seal in those progects.
And if you're doing BIG progects make them smaller if you didnt realize yourself how annoying it is to work with a progect thats bigger than the child.
