I have a cloth that I use. It's treated and cost like three bucks. Lasts forever.

if it's not real bad, rub with white toothpaste or baking soda. but you have to put in elbow grease! hagerty and weiman's have all kinds of products including polishing cloths and polishing gloves. you still have to rub. paste-type silver polish work best, but you still have to rub. look in the household cleaning section of your supermarket where the various polishes are.

all silver polishes smell. some are pink, some are brown. some are paste in jars and some are liquids in bottles. paste is better b/c it stays where you put it and doesn't spill. hagerty and weiman are kosher. so is rokeach. they are all pretty much alike. are you sure the spray you used was for polishing and not a coating intended to [slow person] tarnishing?
the gloves and cloths don't smell but they need a bit more force than polishes because they rely exclusively on the rubbing. the polishes rely on both rubbing and chemical reaction. some polishes claim to help slow down tarnish. If you store your silver in an enclosed space like a box, you can help slow tarnish by using tarnish-prevention strips. they look like ordinary paper but are impregnated with a chemical that absorbs sulfur from the air.
there is no getting around it--no matter what you do you will eventually have to polish and that will involve rubbing. lke all cleaning chores, the more often you do it the easier it is.

Goddards, Tarni shield. both work well. Goddards is easier to use, but tarni shield lasts longer.

You can also try not to let it tarnish too quickly and then you don't have to polish it too often.
Try not to handle it too much, and before you put it away rub it down with a paper towel or one of those mitts. (even if it doesn't look tarnished) Store it in something, a cabinet with doors (as opposed to keeping it out), I have a curio cabinet that is pretty airtight and we barely ever have to polish our silver.

I've used toothpaste on badly tarnished silverplate when there wasn't any polish in the house, with good results , in fact better than with some of the other paste or liquid polishes. I found this idea in some household hints, before chen posted it.
But there is a certain kind of liquid polish(it's clear, made by Goddard) which is no work, and gets all the tarnish off, the only thing is that it says on the bottle that it's somewhat toxic.

I find Goddards pretty easy. You wet the sponge. Dip it into a cream-like pink substance. yes, it does have a smell. You then go through the object and rinse with hot water. It comes out really nice.

Sara- are you sure it's sealed FOR LIFE and not just for a few years?
We had our silver mezzuzas sealed, only to find out when hanging them up that our mezzuzahs were too long for the cases. Oh well, at least they are remaining shiny- in their respective gift boxes.

I have tried a liquid solvent today -
you just dunk your silverware in it
and it comes out clean.
another thing I have noticed are little spots on my spoons.
