there's a small pizza shop that opened recently in Amsterdam, Im pretty sure there's a fleishig restaurant too.
You absolutely must go to the center of Amsterdam where there's the Anne Frank House, and the whole old part of Amsterdam, you can take a boat ride there.
There's also a tulip place s/w in Holland (I've never been to), a place where different parts of Holland are all in miniature-cute. I dont have details of where e/t is b/c I dont live there.

We went to Amsterdam on our honeymoon. We loved the Anne Frank house. We also went on a boat on the canals. There is a Jewish museum that's huge and fascinating (and I think they have a restaurant there).

Thanks for your replies, and baby's mom I cannot ride a bike but someone was telling me that you have to be really careful there so that you do not get knocked over by them. I hope you all have a good holiday/ vacation.

It's called Madura Dam. It must be fairly close to Amsterdam because a friend of mine went to see it on a stopover in Schiphol.

Anne Frank House is a must.
so is a canal boat ride, the Jewish Historical Museum, but the restaurant there doesn't have a kashrus certificate anymore!
great museum to go to with children (but depends on age): the science museum NEMO.
Madurodam is not in Amsterdam, it's in The Hague.
for kosher restaurants and shops:

the "flower place" mommy2 mentioned is open only in the spring (and isn't in amsterdam).
a little outside of amsterdam and very worthwhile visiting: The Zaanse Schans (windmills which still produce all kinds of stuff) and Volendam, the fisherman's village.
if you need any additional info, pm me, as I hardly ever log on anymore.
in any case, enjoy your holiday!

The Spanish-Portuguese Shul is gorgeous and has museum-like displays and videos etc.
There is a clog factory not far from Amsterdam where you can actually watch artisan making the clogs by hand and can buy e/thing from real clogs to keychains.

I have friends that have gone to Amsterdam a few times, there's definitely a meat restaurant there, I remember them raving about it.
Amsterdam has TONS of stuff to do: Van Gogh Museum, Museum of Torture, (Isn't there a Wax Museum?), and plenty of smoke shops .

It may seem obvious but beware of not finding yourself in the bad areas, you don't want to see the naked girls dancing behind invisible glass... if you tell the taxi driver you want to see the typical stuff he may very well drive you there...

Hi everyone I hoped that everyone has had a great vacation. Amsterdam was totally amazing and it was great to be without the kids. Please do not take that in the wrong way. They went to their grandparents and were spoitl rotten and had a great time. But we were so happy to see them when we came back and it just made us appreaciate them even more. Before I went I was going throught a bit of a tough time, but now I feel so relaxed and feel I could cope with nearly anything!!! So yes I would recommended it to you all out there just a few days alone will do you a world of good.
Back to the holiday, we went to the Jewish Museum, we did not really like it that much, there is no restaurant there any more, but just outside there is a Jewish style restaurant and no it is not kosher. But around the corner there is a fantastic restaurant, with great food, really friendly and they helped us loads with directions, ect.....
Wow the Spanish and Portuguese Shul is just totally amazing breath taking, etc.... We also found it very moving as there was a video about the old population before the war and post war and nowadays. It was moving and proved that how ever hard our enermies try and destroy us they will never succeed. But saying that it was terribly sad to imagine this once triving community now being just 350 families.
We went to the Anne Frank's house, Zaanse Schans, took a canal trip, went to the flower and flea markets and of course nearly got knocked down by bikes!!!! It was hilaries so first you have to make sure nothing is coming in the bike lane, then the car lane, then the bus- tram lane then the car lane again and then by the time you managed to manouve yourself across all that you forget there is one final bike lane. But we managed it.
What an amazing transport network the Dutch have, I wish the UK had it, they would definately get people iout of their cars if they did.
And no we did not go into the wrong districk I made sure of that I did not feel it was right that Frum Jewish people were seen in that area. And no we did not get anything stronger then a beer, for DH. When we arrived at Manchester ariport they had sniffer dogs sniffing to see if anyone had brought anything back, my DH was disappointed that no one did he wanted some excitement. Well never mind we had an amazing time and thanks for your suggestions,
