Now I teach English in a Belzer high school. They don't learn English in groups (it's a minhag) so I teach pairs. I have 2 pairs each period, and I teach one while the other does quiet work, then switch. The funniest part of this job is that I'm 100% litvish, but I have to dress Chasidish for work. It's hysterical! I'm just waiting for my daughter to express her mortification! (she's almost 9). It's totally worth it, though. I B"H love my job, and I have tons of vacation (but get paid 12 months a year.) |
My older sil has the same job teaching English in Belz E"Y and she never has to change her clothes to Chasidish as long as they are tznius (which, being a regular BY girl, they are). I don't know which school is making you do this, I find it so hard to believe.

I teach 11th grade music (history of Western classical music, music theory, intro to world music) and a guitar club (9th, 10th and 11th combined). I LOVE MY JOB!!!
And, because I'm not a chumash teacher or anything, I can come to school in an ANKLE-LENGTH SKIRT AND KNEE SOCKS!! Woohoo! I was terrified I'd have to start dressing all "sweater/short skirt/nude tights/flats" 'cuz it's a Bais Yaakov high school, but the principal told me I could be my relaxed, albeit put-together, bohemian self.

If this year, I'll teach 12th grade (17 to 21?) boys in an Orthodox school. If in September, probably middle school boys at the same school. I wish I could teach girls, or the primary school when it's still mixed (and easy ). |
Didn't work, they wanted someone with tons of experience for a very difficult class. I'm now a private teacher for French, English and F & E lit.

Jewish book clubs, siddur, Hebrew reading and writing.
I tutored in Bnos Chava and Bnos Rochel and taught The Jewish Woman in Hashkafa and Halacha in a seminary called MTV - anyone hear of it? |
I taught two of my children to read in Ivrit, from the letter aleph through fluent reading, before they were taught in cheder or school.
And kallahs since 1995, and enrichment classes for women who teach kallahs.

all non-jewish subjects in primary school (year1 - 4), ie: english, maths, science, arts, crafts, music, one foreign language, p.e., etc.
I get a first grade and stay with them for four years, then they gaduate and move on to h.s. and I get a new first grade. that's how it works here
