motek your fish roll only says cook one hour? they all say an hour and a half, but anything over 45 minutes or an hour is too long for me, specially on top of the stove, I think the gas is hotter than an oven.

we don't like those "box" fish of flounder or sole, thanks anyway.

Note the longer one cooks a gefitle fish roll the more it expands so usually mine anyways rubashkin says 11/2hrs I always let it cook for that little bit longer. But we havent used that boring method for awhile now lol

I don't mind that in the winter time if I'm home thursday night. but it's too hot for that now.

anyway, we only eat fish friday night; shabbos day we eat in shul. I don't need a whole package and that's how it's sold here.

I sure don't want to eat it cold!

If the problem is you don't want to boil gefilte fish, you can bake it. I put a little water in the bottom of a sprayed pan, put in the roll, add seasoned salt, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper, cover and bake for an hour and 15 min to an hour and a half. (I didn't say this before because I thought it would still be too long for you!)

Sometimes, in the winter, my husband wants warm fish, so I take tomato sauce and spice it, and pour it over the fish, cover and bake, and then he can dip the challah in the sauce and he likes it.

I slice fish when semi-defrosted. Place in baking pan with drop of oil on bottom (not spritz!) & sliced onions (in rings). Then fish slices. Sprinkle with garlic, salt, pepper, paprika. Put more sliced onions & sprinkle with oil.
Bake uncovered 350 for 1 hour.
People think it's fried, and I haven't found someone who doesn't like it.

When I'm really in a hurry...
Open a can of Hunt's Crushed tomatoes. Pour a bit into loaf pan, put roll (unwrapped) in pan and cover with more cr. tomatoes.
Bake 350 for 1½ hrs.
