I love my twin girls, would absolutely LOVE to have twin boys next, but this pregnancy is just 1. oh well!

Twin mommy here. The first 2 years wore me out, but now that that's behind me I almost feel like I could do it again. Though I don't expect to.
Actually, it's the taking care of 2 babies at once I feel like maybe I could do again. The pregnancy though, I don't know. It was really hard on me.

though it's great having twins, there is no comparison in my relationship with my singleton and my twins- with my twins it was more about survival and with my little one, the bonding was that more intense. so even though I would be ecstatic if I had twins again, bc I wud miss that intense one on one bonding time, I wud have to say that one set is enough b"h

I don't have twins - but I did have a twins pregnancy (ended in a mis. - first one, then the other.) By my first ultrasound I'd already lost one, and my reaction was, "Are you sure? You're sure there's only one, right?" I know - I'm terrible, but the thought of twins always scared me. At 16 weeks I missed the other - and that's when I stopped davening "Please - no twins!". Of course, now it's probably statistically less likely for me to have twins, but that's besides the point.

Actually, according to statistics, once you carry twins, you are x% more likely to conceive twins again. I don't know the percentage, but it's higher than if one hasn't carried twins.

I have twins. The first year was hard, especially as when they were born that meant I now had seven kids, the oldest of whom was seven. (I went on to have one more, single baby after that.) But after that first year, they became a lot of fun. As they are a boy and girl and very different, sometimes it's hard to even remember that they are twins.

Would I want more? Hard question. At this point in my life, I would be happy to think that one day I might be married, let alone to have the zechus of having any more children. But by the time it would happen, if at all, I will probably be too old to have kids.

My first were twins and I would be overjoyed to have twins again. I was actually slightly disappointed when my ultrasound revealed AT was a singleton, but I have to say I really enjoyed his babyhood much more than my other three. It was the first time I really felt like Ih ad one baby in the house. He would fall asleep nursing and it wasn't "get this kid down as fast as I can before someone else wakes up!" it was nice to just sit and hold him .

My twins are 16. one boy and one girl. would have another set, but I'm done. they are nothing like each other. were the best babies. Nowadays, I often forget that they are twins.

I don't have any kids yet, but I'm married to an identical twin. And since this is a twin-oriented thread, is it genetic? Is it possible that I could have twins?

There is a genetic aspect, but it resides in the mother, meaning if you have twins on your side of the family you have a slightly higher chance of having fraternal twins. Slightly higher, not much. So your future daughters may have a slightly higher chance of having twins, but not you. That doesn't mean you couldn't have identical twins--you're just as likely as anyone else to do so. Just not MORE likely.

The incidence rate of identical twins is pretty much the same across the board. Fraternal twins, which occur when you produce more than one egg in one cycle, run in families, somewhat. You're most likely to have fraternal twins if you're black, least likely if you're Asian. All this is, of course, assuming natural twinning without use of fertility drugs or other interventions.

The likelihood of having fraternal twins increases with increasing maternal age. It's believed that as ovulation gets more irregular and unreliable, an older woman is more likely to have anovulatory cycles interspersed with hyperovulatory ones. So in any given month, you may be unlikely to conceive at all or likely to conceive twins. Also, if you have already had twins, you're statistically more likely to have twins again.
