want my twins to walk asap! any suggestions?

my twins are turning 11 months. I know its quite early to walk, but I do want ( I know babies who walk by 9 m)my hands are hurting from holding 2 22 pounders, it will be so much easier for me. anything that I can do to teach them how to walk ? Help

theres really not much you can do. they'll walk when they're ready. sorry. -trust me I've been there btw it doesnt get that much easier after they start walking

I agree. You cannot teach a child to walk early. When they are ready, they'll walk. And besides, once they are walking you will be chasing around 2 toddlers.

Have you tried to carry them in a wrap? I'm not a crazy fanatic, just a minor fanatic, but there's a website that I like a lot, thebabywearer.com. It is possble to wear both babies at once! This website has some crazy fanatical baby wearers that would be glad to help you figure it out.

DD was a late walker, and I had such backache from carrying her around. I can't imagine what it's like with 2!
She does get PT, and the therapist recommended using a scarf or similar under her arms, and across her front to help hold her up and help her practice walking.
You can get actual ready made ones on Amazon for quite cheap.

why the rush?? I was wishing my girls to start walking and then once they did I was wishing they werent anymore....they will run in opposite directions ALL THE TIME and ull be the one trying to chase them and keep them near you - dont rush it!!!!! it will happen at the right time, and ull see that it wont be easier than carrying 2 big babies!

You cannot teach a child to walk, they just have to want to walk.. Are they pulling up on things??

Maybe put something they like or think is pretty just out of their reach, believe me if they want something they will keep trying at it..

But they have to be ready...hatzlocha!

BTW online you take the good with the bad.

Mine didn't walk until 16.5 months, about 2 weeks before their little sister was born (Hashem had mercy on my and I didn't have 3 non walkers). My ds didn't walk until 22 months, so you have time to wait before you start freaking out. Don't worry, once they start walking you will be missing the crawling days when they didn't run off in 2 different directions.

Are they pulling up?
Were they preemies?

My twins will be 11 months on Sept 12th and one of them is pretty much ready to walk, the other one just started pulling up. I am certainly in no rush for them to walk though...it takes a long time to get a baby who walks to understand WHERE you want them to go. When they first learn to walk they go wherever they want. Right now they crawl all over, so I usually have them in my play-yard.

No one is going to give PT to an 11 month old who isnt walking yet...that's not considered "late" yet.

You can't force them to walk earlier, but there are definitely things that you can do to encourage them.

Put the toys and things that they want to get to on higher surfaces (eg. a couch, table) so that they have to pull up and on their feet to get to them (an activity table is a great toy). Don't put the things right in front of them, but put it farther down the couch, or on the other end of the table so they have to cruise to get to it. Put some children's chairs (ones that won't tip easily) on the floor so that when they pull to stand on them, they can also push them around the floor and cruise around.

Just try to encourage them to be and play on their feet as much as possible so that they strengthen their legs and gain security and confidence with being on their feet.

There's no way to know if these things will work, but it doesn't hurt to try.

Actually baby walkers are not good. They dont help develop the upper leg muscles. They are no longer recommended to use.

Unless you are referring to the push toys. But those are for when they start cruising already. And theyre great!

yep, thats what I meant, these things that the kids can push around, mine started using it when he was standing before he was properly walking, he managed to walk fine with it. hope it's ok... Confused

thanks to everyone! I bought the push n ride bike, hope it will encourage them... wat other toys can a 12 month old play with, they are so bored of their raddles n stuff, keep on crawling up on me... I need emergency entertainment for them for the long winter days home...
