My 2.5 yr old (firstborn) always says no when we ask him if he needs changing and we have to coax him into being changed. It seems that he is just lazy about it because other activities are always more appealing than getting changed. Trouble is that I can't tell if he knows when he is making. And I have never noticed him do anything specific directly before he makes. Has anyone had this with their kids? Did they become more communicative about it at a later stage? How did you figure out if and when they were aware of their bodily functions?

I have a 3.5 dd, who is not a first born, with the same issues. I could use some advice with this too!
