Just wondering -- does anybody know the issues around touching (or not touching) the Kosel? We were told not to touch it, but I saw many very religious people touching it. And I just read yesterday that some people go to the mikva before touching the Kosel. And it also said that there might be a problem with sticking a finger in the holes between the stones, because the land under the Kosel might be off limits to people who are not ritually pure.

Lots of people don't touch it because of it being part of the Bais Hamikdash retaining wall. I didn't touch it before I was married because that's what my Rav paskened. Now I do.
