Oh I love the curls & make them perfectly every morning. Ds knows it's part of the morning routine & he isn't to bad about it usually. We make it totally wet, work in a curling spray & it stays neat most of the day. He is gonna look like such a nerd this summer once we cut them off, cuz his face is TINY!
Though I'm still hoping my girls will have straight hair. Mainly because I doubt a girl will agree with me & wear her hair curly as a teen. Oh & blown out curly hair never looks to great.
On the floor he was trying to get away from his nervous mother! So of course he was giggling & getting us alot of negative att. We where on a real high tower with a lookout to scenery. The porch fence really wasn't safe...
Judy, what curling spray do you use? Which brush do you use?
I know that dd's hair is very different than your son's, but I need help with hers.
Right now I use Johnson's Leave In Conditioner from the No More Tangles line. I have no idea what brush to use. (And I find that a brush just messes up her natural hair. I don't use a brush on her every morning, just my fingers, and my mom thinks that's unacceptable.)
Some help please
Frizzease curling spray (It's a thin gel like spray that comes in a clear shpritz bottle)
Zexy curly hair (It's totally liquid gel like, but very thin & easy to use & comes in a blue bottle)
Tresseme curl defining mouse - ds loves the excitement of putting 'ice cream' in his hair (It's a black tresseme bottle - not sure if I got the name exactly right.
These things are such help, they don't mess up the natural hair, they enhance it. I find they are all better when used on wet hair- it just dries nicer & more naturall (also less of a shine).
Thanks Judy!
What do you think of the brushing issue?
(That pic I sent you.. I ran my fingers through dd's hair straight out of the bath and then we went to take pictures. Her hair comes out best with this method.)
(Of course in the winter she sits on the bus with a hat on her way to and home from school. So we won't even discuss hat hair )
Wow, SaraNurit, wasn't your baby just born? He's so big already! Eating solids and all.
Paddington, I love the bonnet. I see why you don't want to cut the curls- they are at the very bottom and might not grow back the same way. My son's curls were all over his head. It was... something. An awful pain to take care of. He put up such a fight. Our minhag is to cut on Lag B'Omer, which was 1.5 months after his birthday. Oh, how I begged my husband to cut it of on the birthday. Well, I managed to last the 6 weeks, and now I can marvel at the (pain-free) photos. His curls can be found on page 50 of this thread.
Judy, your son's curls are similar to what mine had. So you know the trauma. He is a cutie. The one where is is on the floor of the deck- is he giggling or tantrumming?
Gamzu, btw she's a girl. And yes, I saw your son's curls. I actually went through the entire thread. Your kids are so cute kah and your photos...amazing.
My daughter has stunning hair and garners way too much attention for them. Unlike your son's, hers is easy to manage. It's not the frizzy, curly kind but very thin hair with bottle curls at the bottom. The only thing is it's quite long and she's giving me he** every morning when I brush it and put it into a pony. She can't go to school with her hair down or else the entire contents of her lunch will be stuck right onto it.
When I do make it loose I put her on the old fashioned beaded chuts (comes in many colors) and together with the long, shiny blonde hair.....(and blue eyes).......
I had the worst hair imaginable. I spent oodles of money for straightenings and what not, suffered through tearful, painful hairblows etc. and hashem has repayed me with beautiful hair for both my kids.
Yesha, those pics are adorable. Love the one with your sons partially exposed (butt).
Ruchel, your daughter is gorgeous.
Thanks Judy!

Any brushes that you recommend?
I use the ones with alot of bristles close together- kwim?
Hey do you ever pick up your daughter from school? Come on over & I'll play around with her hair.
You wait outside for the bus? I don't put on ds a hat because we.....
I try to make his hair early enough, so that it isn't wet when he leaves to school, so that he shouldn't catch a cold. I find if his hair is dry once we bought on a hat, it does get terribly messed.
Thanks Judy!

You use the one that "hurts"? I always knew I needed that one, but dd doesn't like it. Off to the pharmacy I go!
Thanks for the invite! I will iy"H take you up on your offer to come by after school one day. We'll be in touch.
ra_mom - I have pretty curly hair. I have NEVER used a brush - all it would do is frizz it out like crazy. In the shower I use a regular comb, but otherwise, my regular is a pick. Along with the no more tangles in the mornings, it should work.
