Hello!
I would like to buy DH a new borsalino I live OOT and I was looking at some websites online and I came across bencraft. They seem to have a pretty large selection. Do any of you out there have any knowledge about it?
Thanks!

I can't imagine buying a hat of that style for someone without him being able to try it on. These hats are sized very specifically. There are also many different shapes, styles, etc and he may have his specifics that you're not particularly aware of. Perhaps you should get him a gift certificate to Bencraft that is non-refundable, etc. Either way I think your gesture is sweet and I wish you luck...

I think a hat for men is very specific and there r so many different types of styles its silly to buy it without him trying on. unless u look what he has and buy the same

you need to know what size heard he has, and the shape, or he will be wildy uncomfortable.

You need to try it on, as everyone said.
You need also to look at your own community.
In NY I'm told a black hat is a yeshivish item. But around here, black hat screams "older Litvish", or "Chabad". A few very shtark Litvish (think, rabbanim) too. But yeshivish? no way, except maybe on shabbes for a minority. You have to find out in yours.

I have an idea...Ask the store/website if they can do exchanges. Purchase a hat that you think is good and then give it to your dh. He will be excited about the surprise and then you can tell him to choose the style he likes.
I did that once for a present- I wanted to give it as a surprise, but I also wanted dh to pick it out...so this compromise worked well.
