will be going to the mall. so which company is good? y? need makeup for everyday use that isn't caked on. I'd rather not have to start with foundation and stuff since I haven't used that in a few years. what should I go for? is there a company that has light foundation that doesnt feel heavy

I'm going to be switching to Bare Minerals now. I tried it in the mall and liked it.

I like Chanel - it is pricier than other brands, but I find their foundation and lipstick are the most comfortable of all the ones I've tried. They feel very light on the skin.

Go to a place like Sephora where they will show you what to use and how to use it. Then you can look online, like on ebay, for sales and samples.

Bare minerals is amazing, I have been using it for 6 years, through all sorts of hormonal changes (pregnancies, IF treatments) that have caused my skin to go crazy and its amazing whether I need the heavier coverage or lighter. It never feels heavy on your face! I would recommend it to anyone. They have it at Sephora!

I love Maybelline Dream Matte Mouse. It is in between a liquid and powder. It literally is like mousse. It goes on so smooth for a VERY natural look! I have some acne scars and it totally covers it up and I dont feel like I am wearing a mask. I totally recommend it!

I like Mac for my eyes and face because they have a variety of colors and Yves Saint Laurent for my lips because they have rich bold lipsticks.

I like prescriptives because I can always get a match and if not they will custom blend you one. You can also get custom blended powder. I have lots of freckles and such and having an even skin tone helps me feel beautiful. For concealer I do bobbi brown as she has a great formula that's thick and creamy.
I like bare minerals, too, but the downside is the powder, tap, swirl, etc. It can be more time-consuming and messier than just a few dots of liquid. And I'm a pretend thrifty person, so when things spill on the counter, I'm frustrated, wondering if I should scoop it up....But for shabbat evening, going out where I have more than 2 minutes, it's great.

I used bare minerals but I was allergic to it. They say it happens with some people and let me return it with no problems. But I thought it was a cool concept.
I use clinique face makeup as it's light and hypo allergenic.
For eye shadow, etc. I use Mac because they have cool colors.

Tinted moisturizer is a great way to have some sheer coverage and not look cakey....

MAC all the way. Good colors, quality, variety of products, stays on long and never bothers my sensitive skin.

When Allure Magazine comes out with their Best of Beauty issue every fall, I clip the pages and use it as a reference for anything new I need to buy. They even suggest the best colors for different skin tones.
My favorite foundation is Giorgio Armani, but I use that only for Shabbos and simchas. Estee Lauder's mineral liquid foundation has sheer coverage and is very light. The Double Wear Light from her lasts for a long time and is also a sheer coverage.

prescriptives is my favorite too. But they are closing down
I wish I could afford to stock up big time but... oh well. Their foundation is very good. never feels at all cakey or hard. its creamy smoth and gentle. I love it (I only wear it for occasions)
And the rest of their makeup is great as well (eye makeup everyday, blush and lipstick when im in the mood)
My next is estee lauder- same company as pescriptives...

But they will be closing down and that's a bummer. The closest I found to prescriptives is bare minerals.

My next is estee lauder- same company as pescriptives... | I was thinking of stocking up (forget about the money aspect for a moment) but I realized that I'll end up staying stuck with some stuff. For example if I buy 3 of each thing, and end up using using 2 foundations and 3 blush, I'll be stuck with the foundations. It's hard to match/blend with a new brand. So I gave up on that.
Even though Estee Lauder is the same company, they are totally different ideas. The coverage is different. That's why it's 2 separate brands.
