The time has finally arrived!!

Shoshy has just started crawling, standing up by herself and taking steps holding on - all withing the same few weeks!! LOL LOL

That now means: BABY PROOFING.

Her new trick is to go into the kitchen cupboards and pull everything out (like you guys havn't gone through that)! Her favourite cupboard is the Pesach one, which is under the sink. So I guess the chumrah of not using things that fall on the floor is not being followed in this house. Wink She also likes to climb up the cupboard doors to get into a standing position (I don't know how she does it)

QUESTION: What is the best baby proofing locks for the:
1. Kitchen Cabnits
2. Fridge door (She uses it to stand up by putting her fingers in the fridge seal - gotta love her Very Happy )
3. Toilet bowl (she plays on the floor next to bath when I take a shower - otherwise door is closed)
4. Anything else that I haven't thought of yet because she hasn't reached it.
5. The computer wires underneath the desk

Thank you so much for helping protect little curious destructo and mummy's sanity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get closet/cupboard locks from toys r us or depending what type of hooks you have elastic could also work. truth be known if you have a choice depending what type of home you have, put a gate up preventing them into the kitchen to begin with.

If you have a climber on your hands you probably should be looking into bracketing furniture like bookshelfs desks and dressers. Tooo many accidents have resulted sometimes even fatal r"l

Computer wires again eighter clip them up and away or move them into a hidden area you can even get wireless. Eighter way it should be away from baby.

Lastly do what they told all mothers about baby proofing get on your hands and knees and pretent you too r a kid and see what they can get too from that position. Also never rely on only this supervision is the best bet since they can always get to sdomething you didn't child proof. Lots of luck. Hatzlachah

thanks for the tips.

My kitchen cabnits don't have handles, just grooves at the top to put your fingers into.

When I was a child my parents put in locks on the bottom inide, so that you opened it a crack and pushed up the locks, my younger siblings figured out the trick pretty soon enough. Is there a better system out there now????

Since there are so many places to get in trouble in the kitchen I installed a gate to close off the whole room when we aren't using it.

I thought I posted here..what happened??
safety 1st and some other companies make things to make life easier and safer --
*a fridge lock
* a toilet lock (we don't use it - just keep the door closed)
*rubbers to soften edges that may be sharp
*things go inside drawer to keep it closed - you stick your finger in to "unlock"
*don't forget to put outlet covers on
*my son sometimes pulls out the computer plug - esp. annoying if writing an email or on imamother! we recently got (but haven't installed) something that covers over the plugs!!
good luck!

I think once you have kids you need to permanitly baby proof. Someday IY"H you will have grandchildren over and you want them to be welcome in your house.
