Try AISH dot com. It may take a day until they respond to your question though.

a. I'm so sorry to hear that
b. sometimes you log in at a very busy hour, and the scholar is trying to juggle between 5 people, and answer all of them decently. try a quieter hour (midnight or early morning).
c. you might be better off asking a woman scholar.
d. remember - the ppl. behind askmoses are human. they can't make magic. if it's a hard-to-answer question, they, too, will have hard time answering it, especially considering that you're expecting an answer on the spot.
e. you can always try the email: mail@askmoses.com. they have a very professional staff who can answer your questions without the pressure that the online scholars have.

a very serious matter should be discussed with a live flesh and blood person, not an anonymous online person.

I think ask moses is for non frum/religeous women, for real shailos u need to speak to a rav. they are not rav's.

Just for the record: Usually the Rabbis have a lot more patience and care more to answer a non frum person than a frum 1.
For example: I went on to discuss something and the Rabbi basically brushed me off. It was an issue about something to do with frumkeit, I dont remember exactly what it was.
A little while later just to test, my freind and I went on the site and pretended to be some none frum guy asking all kinds of q's. The Rabbi was sooo nice and took his time explaining things.
Now, I'm not saying that it isnt a good site, but it is catered towards those who aren't frum.

When the site was new, I used it all the time for random questions. It was great! The scholars were always online and theyw ere so patient, etc. (Btw, they knew I was frum.) A year or two ago it got so bad. No one was EVER on! I looked at the schedule of schoalrs they have on their website, (maybe it's not there anymore), and clearly scholars were not online when they should have been. It was very frustrating. I emailed them to complain twice but got no response. I strated to email my questions but they never got back to me. All in all a terrible experience. Truth be told, I don't mind so much for me. B"H, I don't need askmoses to answer my questions about Yiddishkeit, but I can only imagine the chilul Hashem this could make for those who aren't frum. For the record, I think it's gotten better recently...

Or they just tell you to ask a local rabbi, but what do you do if there is no local rabbi?

Quote: | for real shailos u need to speak to a rav. they are not rav's. | as a rule, askmose doesn't pasken. the only kind of halachic question that's answered is one that's simple and clear-cut. for example - 'is one required to wear a tallis during maariv?' or 'what time is the shkia in london this coming friday?' it's definitely not the place to go to if you need a heter.
Quote: | Or they just tell you to ask a local rabbi, but what do you do if there is no local rabbi? | they can help you locate a rabbi near you, if you need one.
Quote: | Usually the Rabbis have a lot more patience and care more to answer a non frum person than a frum 1 | they're there for everyone, frum and non-frum alike.
Quote: | When the site was new, I used it all the time for random questions. It was great! The scholars were always online and theyw ere so patient, etc. | when the site first opened, there were less viewers, and much less chatters. these days, almost at any given time, there are five people chatting at the same time with one scholar. it can be very overwhelming at times, and that explains the rudeness (it shouldn't be that way, though, and I'm really sorry you felt he screamed at you).
