My child receives therapy at Omni. I was wondering am I supposed to give a Chanukah gift to the therapist?
If yes, what should I give? The two therapists my child has is a single girl.

Ask the hanholoh what ppl usually do, and if they know how much to spend.

when my mother worked at omni 2 of her clients paired up and baked cookies and bought her a cook book.

she got a few cookbooks from clients in other places too.

she got napkin rings

Please do not buy mugs or anything like that. They get so many. You can get a nice book or gift card to a store with a nice note or card along with it.

My husband is a therapist. Nice (smaller) gifts people have given him include a small basket (or mug) with several kinds of tea, Borders card, pen refills (he has a really nice pen and a patient noticed what kind of refill it takes), men's overnight toiletry bag. personally, I love it when he gets good chocolates!

For the female therapists, you can get gift certificates to The Yellow Door (near Omni), or a kitchen store like Kitchen Clique. The Buzz, or Judaica stores, are also good options for gift certificates. Male therapists are sometimes harder, especially when you don't know their taste. You can get them a gift card to Best Buy, or the like. They can always use that on anything they want. And you can get those gift certificates in any supermarket or other store that sells these gift cards.

Gift amounts vary by everyone's personal circumstances. Remember that a gift is a "thank you", not a fee. I've seen gift amounts that run the gamut. $10-20 is usually sufficient. You also have to be honest with yourself and your budget. A nice thank you note accompanying a $10 gift card can mean more than a $50 card given "because I have to".

Having more than one child with a therapist, or a particularly difficult child or circumstances might warrant a little more. Just remember it's really the thought. Take a few minutes to write a nice card about what this therapist (or teacher, etc.) has accomplished with your child. Your child can help you by writing a note or coloring a picture too.
