If you are going to a birthday party for twins would you give one gift or two gifts?

What age are they?
As a mother of twins, I would say that as they are two separate people, two gifts are correct, unless you want to give a larger gift .

As a mother of twins, I always preferred two similar type gifts but that were different, but if someone got them something they could play with together, they didn't seem to mind, so that's fine too. Please don't (if you can avoid it) buy one thing that they can only play with one at a time. That's hard for them, and then, IME, they argue about "whose" toy it is. Whereas, if they both got big cars and one was a police car and one was a fire truck, they took turns and "shared" without a problem. Also, I never had an issue if the two gifts cost the same (approximately) as one bigger gift would have. For me, the "separateness" was worth it. I would never expect someone to spend more than they would be able to, and it's hard when you have to buy a double gift when you would otherwise only buy one (even if they are two kids).

I agree with all of the posters above.
Either you buy 2 of the same(ish) toys, or you buy 1 large thing (game, doll house) to play with together.
Things like books or dvd's can also be shared.
