I need to go to a professional who will give me advice on what skincare products to use for my skin, what make-up products I need, the right colors, and how to apply it.
Is a department store like Macys or Lord&Taylor a good idea?
Please advise. TIA

A beauty consultant at a cosmetics counter is more of a salesperson than a knowledgable beauty expert. They get paid by commission and they get hired based on their sales abilities more than their makeup skills. You'll get better advice going to a private makeup artist or beautician who specializes in determinig what beauty products to use and what skincare routine you need to follow.
