I am considering laser hair removal for bikini line because whenever I wax I get ingrown hairs and have about 10 little scars from trying to remove the ingrowns. I know laser will take the hair away- but will it lighten the scars??

If your biggest problem is little scars on your bikini line, you are one lucky girl!

you're funny- its not my biggest problem, but I'd like to get rid of it if I can and don't want to pay for laser if it won't help

I don't want to discourage you, but laser didn't work for me. I didn't have any scars I needed lightened, but it did nothing for hair removal. The laser kills the hair, turning it white, then it is supposed to fall out. Mine never fell out. Eventually it did grow back black, but the hair growth was not lessened at all. Maybe I just went to a bad place. The office was nice and clean. The staff seemed knowledgable. I don't know.
I also did many, many sessions of electrolysis. That did thin the hair somewhat, but not much considering the time and money spent. If you will be spending money regularly on waxing anyway, I think electrolysis is a fair deal. It is a long process, however, and it can cause a lot of irritation. Laser also "burnt" my skin, so you have that with both.

I know ppl who lasered their bikini area, among other body parts, and say that the bikini area worked better than any other area. They were happy with their results. Laser is not as perfect as some may think: its a long process and doesnt get rid of everything. But I bet that if you laser your bikini area five times, you will have a much slower thinner growth and therefore no ingrown hairs. In regard to your scars, I think you would have to use a diferent kind of laser to fix scars, though im not sure. Gluck

I did laser only once so far and I got amazing results. I cant wait to go back again. I had bad experiences with waxing too, including all the ingrown hairs. I think it depends on the place and the type of hair you have
