She is six years old and holds her pee all day. The bathroom is available, but she does the toilet dance all day. She will only go after pushing her to go. (her panties are always wet as a result, it does not seem to bother her at all)
did anyone have this problem and how did you overcome it?

Is this because the bathroom is boring or because she has a phobia of public dirty bathrooms? Is she a perfectionist most of the times? How old is she?

confused as well ... is this only when she is outside of the home - cause people have phobias of not using any other bathroom ...
if it's at home too ... make potty time and stick to it ... especially before they get too involved in playing cause they tone out to basic needs ...

Agree with greenfire. Make specific bathroom times (every 3 hours?). Announce that's it's bathroom time, and don't allow her to weasel out of it.
Good luck

My MIL has this with my little BIL. (He's 5 years old.) AFAIK, all she's doing is standing over him all day, pushing him to go to the bathroom. I think it's fairly common in children, and something that they outgrow eventually.

Good point amother.
If you're comfortable using the bathroom while she is there, tell her we're both going to the bathroom. Then give her a choice. Who should go first, me or you?

Forget embarassing, it's not a very safe habit.
She could get a UTI from holding it in all the time.
Does it burn her when she goes?
How long has this been going on for?

set times should be before and after things ... after you wake up before you go to sleep ... when you leave the house when you come home ... before you eat / after you eat ... before you play / after you clean up the toys ... this way it begins to ingrain that ya gotta pee a lot - and soon she'll pay attention to her body's signal ...
for us - I used to have to convince everyone when traveling by car to brooklyn that it's pee time ... when we stop everybody has to go or you will wait till next time ...

My mother did that with us when we were kids. Before we left the house to anywhere, everybody had to go. (What should I tell you, the habit stuck. Dh even laughs about it: "don't go now, cuz you'll have to go again anyway once you're all dressed...")

take a balloon the thinner one , a water ballon.
get your kid to the kitchen sink. tell her to watch.
tell her she has a balloon inside her that holds liqueds.
attach balloon to sink.
turn on sink a bit. tell her that is her drinking apple juice. then again on and say now you drank milk.
keep going till the balloon is full. say -but you never want to go to the bathroom so there is no where for the water to come out. so the balloon insode you keeps getting fuller (keep filling) and fuller until and I apologize for this let the balloon bust and spray water all over. say this is what happens if the water in your body is never let out by going to the bathroom.
now take another balloon. show her how you poked a hole in the top.
repeat by filling. and show her how it never gets full and the water come out.
I did this with my boys, worked like a charm. did make a big mess though and they were shocked, but it worked.
