Does your son come home filthy every day?
Does he come home from school, looking like he just came back from rolling in the mud?
Do you have to wash his clothes in a sanitize cycle every day?
At what age do boys come home from school clean?

My son is extremely neat. I hardly ever use stain remover on his clothes and he can usually wear things a few times before washing.
My daughter is extremely messy. I always have to use stain remover on everything she wears and never gets a second wearing.
It really depends on the child, not on their gender.
I can see my youngest though, a boy, will be messy like his sister.

My question is, do all boys rip their pants all the time?

mine too. she would play in the dirt all day if I let her...and sometimes I have...
Hey, she's 2, and I figure it's good for sensory integration.
DS is 4...and depending on what his lunch included (ie. yogurt) and what arts and crafts included (ie. paint), he's usually ok. Not disheveled, but I wouldn't call it clean either.

My dd HATES the bath and LOVES the mess.
My dh couldn't stand a stain or walking barefoot.

My boys are quite clean and smell pretty good most of the time. The pants, sorry to say, do rip a lot during the younger years.

I guess this thread was a way for me to vent last night. Writing out the options for the poll was quite therapeutical.
I know that gender doesn't neccesarily have to do with cleanliness, it's just that my boy comes home filthy, almost every single day.
Ripped pants--yeah. That too. At one point, I'd be throwing out two pairs of pants a week.

stop throwing out the pants - they'll rip the new ones anyways ... get patches or leave them till they're shredded - it's a style ya know - for a good reason too ...
now sonny boy was an immaculate professor ... always tucked in neat, tzitzis to the side, peyos behind his ears ... and what can I say, some 17 years later the kid looks a mess - always fixing cars and things, grease & grime all over his clothing - and even though he washes them you'd never know - and he refuses to wear anything but white shirts because he has to go daven and learn in between ... on shabbos however, he takes on the neat part once again ...

lol! my son ripped a brand new pair of pants. they were too big he is between sizes. a size smaller looks really silly and the next size is way too big. he also ripped the knees later on. I know that he wore a smock but paint was still on his shirt and marker on his sleeves. bh they use washable marker at school! it also depends where they play for recess. if its an indoor gym he comes home cleaner.
the shirts don't stay tucked in but otherwise he is getting neater
dd is pretty good. she can stay clean. but if she goes to the park I can't put her in a light colored skirt b/c she will get dirty. but she gets untucked very fast and her hairs starts to fly if she is just wearing a headband.

Mine's pretty filthy at 2.5. I'm hopeful that when rolling on the floor, and pushing cars across the floor becomes less of his favorite thing, he won't be as dirty.

It depends on the kid. One ds goes to school looking neat and comes home pretty much in the same condition as he left. No ripped pants knees for him, only frayed pants cuffs. My younger ds goes to school looking like he rolled out of bed and comes home looking like he has gone through the wars. For him, eating is a full body experience. His pants knees get ripped regularly and at some point (when I was buying several new pairs of pants for him per month because of the ripped knees) I resolved to find the cheapest serviceable pants for him, since why should I spend loads of dollars on something that will be ripped anyway! FYI, the French Toast uniform pants have reinforced knees and they are cheap and don't expect them to last too long, but they work!

Mine is in nursery half a day (3 yr old) and comes home clean. But then he and his brother (19 months) spend the day in the backyard digging and climbing and their body and hair needs to be sanitized, not just their clothing.
But at least they are having a good time.

For us, it depends on the brand, and the more expensive ones don't always last longer.
You could reinforce the knees using an iron-on patch on the INSIDE when they're new, or sew and patch when they tear.
I wouldn't say my DS has ever regularly come home from school filthy, but he certainly wouldn't be able to wear the clothes again without washing.

We've always had luck with Old Navy.

IMHO, they also feel better than the French Toast.

My oldest (5) does a decent job at keeping clean, but his little brother (3) usually comes home quite dirty.
However, I don't recall either of them ever having ripped their pants (bli ayin hara), but both constantly make their tzitzis possul.

Well, one has the top tucked in and very neat at all times while the other has the top out and advertised what he ate that day. Not all are dirty, not all are neat.

My kids come home so sandy after school, they go right into the bath after dinner!
They're shoes have sand, their pockets, their hair!
It makes our house a mess!
But they love the school playground1

I also like the Old Navy ones, and that is my regular purchase, but those are the one that my younger ds goes through during the year, ripping the knees to shreads on a regular basis. I agree they feel better (and they sell out fast online, too). I only resort to the french toast after my first six pairs for the year are "toast" excuse the pun.
