"What's the best minivan?" I read it as "miniyan"
The best ones are where there aren't much talking during but nice socialising and comaraderie afterwards, where chazan's voice is pleasant without droning, the rabbi's drasha is inspiring, and no crying babies around. Good kiddush is a big plus.

At what age do you start with a kippa (on boys)?
As opposed to on girls?

The topic didn't remind me of Tom Lehrer's Hanukkah in Santa Monica, but your answer did:
Quote: | I'm spending Hannukah in Santa Monica
Wearing Sandals, lighting candles by the sea
I spent Shavuos in East Saint Louis
A charming spot but clearly not the spot for me...
Those eastern winters, I can't endure 'em
So every year I pack my gear and come out here til Purim
Rosh Hashona I spend in Arizona
And Yom Kippah way down in Mississippah
But in December there's just one place for me
Mid the California flora I'll be lighting my menorah
Like a baby in its cradle I'll be playing with my draydel
Here's to Judas Maccabeus, Boy if he could only see us
Spending Hannukah, in Santa Monica, By the Sea! |

Need chizuk- delayed "O" and don't know when to be
I was wondering how this thread wasn't shut down instantaneously until I realized that the poster was using a non-standard definition of *O*

Wimple Reception
OK, I'll be the really stupid one here. The only wimple I know of is the nun's headpiece, like Sally Field in The Flying Nun. Why would anyone be having a reception in the succah for a nun hat?

a wimple is a long, decorated piece of fabric that Yekkes use to bind a sefer torah. it's usually embroidered with the name and maybe birthdate of a baby boy, and at some point, maybe when he starts cheder or turns 3 or bar mitzvah, he brings it to shul with great celebration and they wrap it around the ST like a belt. This brings up the ? of how many belts can one ST use, already, if every boy in the kehilla brings one, but what do I know, we don't have this minhag.
Originally I think the wimple was the fabric used to bind the boy's legs for his bris, but lately people make brand new ones.
Jewish museums often have magnificent embroidered antique ones on display.
